Hi! I am Don Harrold, how are you?
This is Monday, November 10, 2008. I read today that a survey in 2005 show that 82% of Americans believe in creationism, not evolution. I didn't realize the numbers but that skewed and I read through the article and I am going to find out, it's pretty well-sourced. 82% of Americans believe that god created man and not evolution. And you know that evolution is taught in our schools. It's evolution that takes our dollars and funds these programs in elementary high school.
I thought, wow, that's interesting. I have just given what the media says. I would have believed it. Everybody in America believes that starting with a one-celled creature swimming around in the slime and grew fins that turned into legs and lungs and climbed on trees and that's how we got here, evolution. Well, it's not true. Most Americans don't believe in evolution, they believe in creationism. You've got to be thinking about other things that most Americans believe in.
I bet you took a poll of Americans. They believe it's a bad idea to bail out these banks and these brokers. I bet at least 82% of Americans will tell you it's a bad idea to bail out these auto-makers. The auto-makers now are putting pressure, they are applying pressure to congress to loan them some money. How does it work for the auto-makers to apply pressure? I keep reading about this pressure they are applying to congress. Seems to me if your car is sucked, if the Japanese auto-makers are making better vehicles, they are better gas models that Americans want, and if you couldn't find a way to make money from the banks of Americans buying those overpriced SUVs for the last 20 years, you deserve to fail. And there isn't no pressure from congress, in fact the pressure ought to be on the auto-makers to either fold or give us a car that we actually want to drive.
And now we see that AIG, they are bailed out, they start off at $85 million has now blewed to $150 billion. I bet if you take a poll, 82% of Americans will say they are not in favor of that either.
But what I discovered is polls are funny. They are interesting things. Polls matter when the people at the top are both conducting the polls and also profiting from the results.
