Intel get slot with the huge find, sling media release its inexpensive iPhone app and OLED
screen MP3 players hit the market and they are sexy. Its Wednesday, May 13th I’m Natali Del
Conte and it’s time to get loaded.
Intel got the smack down today from the European Union, we are expecting that they would be
find and that happen to the tune of 1 billion Euros which is approximately $1.45 billion. EU
competition commissioner Neelie Kroes said that Intel use a legal anti-competitive practices to
exclude its only competitor and reduce consumers choice. This is the largest fine ever impose on
the company for competition law in Europe. Here is what Google meant by Searchology, the
company held the press conference yesterday where they introduce search options that allow you
to filter your search results by date, type, etc. They also introduce something called Rich
Snippets which is kind of a weird name but it sort of a semantic web tactic that make web pages
more discoverable and understandable so when you search for something you get the small
preview of the info on that page but now you will get a richer preview on what’s on that site
should you decide to click it.
Sling finally launch the iPhone up to date than promising but it is not cheap, it’s 29.99 which is a
lot for an iPhone app but the same prices the windows mobile and Blackberry version. This will
let you watch the shows that you have to save on your DVR on your iPhone, unfortunately it’s
tight to a Wi-Fi connection so you can’t watch anything over 3G. For most video sites on iPhone
like Hulu or Jews the lack of 3G connection is an inconvenience but I overlooked it because the
apps are free but for $30 I don’t think I can forgive the lack of 3G support I also don’t think we
can blame sling or even Apple for this I think we can blame AT&T because they don’t want
there network being jump. Lotus notes users listen up, the email program now works with the
iPhone a new beta version of Lotus Notes and Domino 8.5 was just announce and it supports
Microsoft to exchange active sync so you can get email and calendaring on the iPhone. You
could previously access notes on the iPhone and ultra light mode the exchange support means
push access plus the ability to view mail calendar and contact data.
eBay is still slashing prices for seller who want to list items on the sites, the company started to
doing this last year but apparently the cut is wasn’t enough so they’re splashing again. Users will
soon be able to sell up to five items every 30 days without paying a listing fee. They will still pay
eBay’s commission on the sale which is 8.75% of the sell price. Of course, eBay has to keep
slashing prices giving that there biggest competitor Craigslist is complete free. Facebook is going
to start talking to you bit more often the site will now give you instant message like notification
of all the activity on your account so now you don’t have to refresh the page or wait for an email
notification to realize that your best friend just pop you. OLED screens are coming to our
portable product how cool is that? The Sony OLED walkman was release today that cost 299 for
the 16 gig version and 399 for the 32 gig version. OLED is the Organic Light Emitting Diode
display that super high definition and beautiful, it’s pretty amazing and its start seeing them in
consumer products it’s on sale now at Amazon.
Speaking of Sony check this out, the company is showing off the MCB 1172 HD camera which
they are claiming is the world’s smallest high definition camera. It has an 8.3 megapixel sensor
and can shoot 720P video with images stabilization, face detection, high iso mode and 120
frames per seconds slow motion just don’t lost it or swallow it. France want to have with the
three strikes piracy law after all, this is the law the revokes your internet access if you’re caught
pirating material three times in a row. It was suppose to past last month but then was shutdown,
it was shut backup yesterday so if you are legally sharing music and movies in friends you have
until the end of the year until your first warning notice comes in a mail.
Microsoft is decided to shutdown its question and answer service MSN Q&A formerly known as
Live Search Q&A they get still only available atq&a.live.com seriously who name those stuffs.
it’s not hard to see while users had a hard time adopting the service much less remembering what
it was called. Microsoft said that it was prefer to redirect its effort toward something else and
company says that it will integrate the strategy and technology of Q&A into future products.
Those are your headlines for today but I will be back tomorrow with more thank you for
