Male: How much exercise will my newly adopted dog need?

Kevin: Well that’s a good question, but it really depends on the dog that you’re asking about. Of course adolescent dogs need much more exercise than a mature or senior dog would need. I mean all the dogs should be walked on a daily basis. It is great for cardio conditioning and for stretching the muscles and what have you but really it depends on the dog, it depends on the breed of dog, a greyhound that is well received as the 55 million dollar couch potato may do well with just those regular walks. But if you have that young boarder collie of lab mixed an eight-hour a day of straining with exercise, they can really go longer than what you can go. And also keep in mind the type of activity that you’re offering a dog.

If your dog gets really high ball drive as an example you know just by throwing a ball for him in the backyard or at the dog park, you can really just be fitting an obsessive compulsive disorder or the dog is exercise is based off of the adrenalin rush that the dog is getting and now you have an addiction with highs and lows and mood swings. Personally, I prefer more endurance based exercise long walks or running or even picking up a hobby like biking with your pet is an example.
