Hi! This is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder and welcome back to our special butterscotch.com 10-part series on Google Earth.
In this segment, we’re going to look briefly at street view. Street view is a much talked about feature of Google Earth but it allows you to be right down on street level in many areas. So, here in Google Earth, go to the layers area, click on street view then you notice as soon as we do that, number of cameras appears. So, we’ll grab this navigation bar, zoom in, we’re moving in towards the City of Detroit Highland Park and I'm going to double click on this camera icon, it zooms forward, takes us in and here’s our globe we pop through and here we are on street view.
Now, if you move your cursor up to the top, you get this navigation box. You can either click inside the square and move it to the right, left, up or down or you can click these arrows to move gently and whatever direction you choose, you can zoom in closer. You can pull it back, so it gives you a very good view of what this intersection looks like. There's a billboard, the price of gas is 319, it was up a bit then, look around the corner. We look up at the sun but we don’t want to get blinded. So, this is street view. When you're done looking, just click exit photo, you pop back out. You notice that when you're very close to the camera icons, they become globes and then as you pull it back they become cameras again. This is street view, keep in mind that this is a multiple part series and be sure to listen to all 10 parts.
