Is the LASIK eye surgery painful and how soon can a patient return to work?
The LASIK procedure is not painful. It can be uncomfortable; a lot of it depends on
the size and shape of your eyes. The equipment is pretty standard so somebody who
has a little bit of a smaller eye might feel a little bit more pressure when the procedure
is being performed. It may pinch a little bit more, but as far as direct pain, hurting,
typically that’s not the case.
As far as going back to work, most patients can go back to work the next day. We
typically perform our procedures, I perform my procedures on a Friday so most
patients have the weekend to relax and then they go back to work on Monday. I do
have Tuesday appointments as well because some patients, Fridays don’t work for
them, their schedules are different and Tuesdays work better so try to mix it up a little
bit that way.
