Eye Wrinkle Surgical Treatment
Dr. Travis Stork: Joining us with a new eye procedure that he invented it himself is
Dr. Bruce Katz. He’s already started this procedure on her patient,
Laurie. So welcome to you both.
Dr. Bruce Katz: Thank you.
Dr. Drew Ordon: How are you? Hi Laurie, I know you can't see us.
Dr. Travis Stork: Yeah, before we go any further, everyone should Laurie is wearing
eye shields right now, so she can't see anything and her eyes are
even difficult to open them. And that’s the protect her.
Dr. Drew Ordon: Yeah, but for us it’s okay. You can this laser. We don’t have to
protect our eyes. Correct?
Dr. Bruce Katz: Right. That’s correct.
Dr. Drew Ordon: So tell us what is the name of this laser treatment you're doing.
Dr. Bruce Katz: Well, this is a Cynosure SmartSkin CO2 laser. It’s a fractional eye
lift and what it does is actually tighten the eyelids skin. It takes
away crows feet. It really elevates the eyebrow and gives the eyes
a much wide open appearance.
Dr. Drew Ordon: So actually doing eyelid surgery if you want to call it that without
any incisions.
Dr. Bruce Katz: Exactly.
Dr. Drew Ordon: But you can't do it all in one shot though. You have to do multiple
sessions, correct?
Dr. Bruce Katz: Correct. We do three or four, five sessions depending upon the
changes on the eyes. Usually, every two weeks. It’s minimal down
time, so people are little bit red and puffy for a day or so. They can
put make-up on and go right back to work.
Dr. Drew Ordon: So again, this is using the fractional CO2 laser technology that
we’re using for resurfacing other skin tightening. Here, you're
doing it around the eyes.
Dr. Bruce Katz: Right. And this is probably the first time we’re applying it to the
eyelid skin which we were concern about before because it’s the
eyes. But with metal shields in place, people are completely
protected and we've had no side effects at all.
Dr. Drew Ordon: We want to see how it works.
Dr. Travis Stork: Yeah, let’s take a look.
Dr. Drew Ordon: Fire it up Doc.
Dr. Travis Stork: Are you ready Laurie.
Dr. Bruce Katz: And Laurie you're going to feel just a little zapping sensation.
Dr. Drew Ordon: And while you're doing that, explain again exactly what that laser
is doing.
Dr. Bruce Katz: Well what it’s actually doing is drilling microscopic holes in the
skin. You see a little bit of zapping here.
Dr. Drew Ordon: So it’s actually columns of light instead of one pattern of light, a
big advantage to that, correct?
Dr. Bruce Katz: Exactly. And when we create these tiny channels, we’re actually
allowing new fresh collagen in to come in and replace the damage
collagen that leads to the loose skin or the wrinkles.
Dr. Drew Ordon: And actually getting some tightening.
Dr. Bruce Katz: Oh yes, we get dramatic tightening as well.
Dr. Drew Ordon: Okay.
Dr. Travis Stork: And Laurie, are you doing okay?
Laurie: Yeah.
Dr. Drew Ordon: Is that just a little sting?
Laurie: Yeah. It’s not bad.
Dr. Travis Stork: And the full procedure is going to take how long during a session?
Dr. Bruce Katz: It probably takes ten minutes to do.
Dr. Travis Stork: Okay.
Dr. Bruce Katz: It’s a very quick procedure. We put some numbing cream on
Laurie beforehand for about 15 minutes. And you can actually see
there are microscopic dots right on this skin surface.
Dr. Drew Ordon: So those are little columns of light that have gone in there.
Dr. Bruce Katz: Taken away the diamond skin. Exactly.
Dr. Drew Ordon: Tightening up that elastin and creating new collagen.
Dr. Bruce Katz: We’ve got elevation in the eyebrow, tightening of the skin. Even
dark circles will go away. So I'm just taking off the eye shields
now.
Dr. Drew Ordon: And whatever we do anything around the eye. We use eye shields
for surgery, for laser.
Dr. Bruce Katz: Here we go.
Dr. Travis Stork: You’re doing okay?
Laurie: Yeah, a little blurry.
Dr. Travis Stork: Let’s go and have you sit up for us. And before I show how good
you look now. I want everyone to look once again at Laurie’s
before picture and now, after the treatment. Nice. It’s fantastic.
Thank you so much Dr. Katz. Thank you Laurie.
Laurie: Thank you.
Dr. Travis Stork: Good luck to you.
