You have got to be one of THE MOST boring narrators I've ever heard. Christ, change your inflection ONCE, or at least PARAPHRASE! Do you realize how painful it is to hear you recite a paragraph of legal material?

How many legal cases have been brought due to online copying and material sharing? Napster is a prime example. Hence, as people place things on Facebook, and others can see, sample, COPY, they have written a rather all-encompassing disclaimer to avoid falling into a similar trap. Then we take a look at some tenuous links between those who have served on various boards to imply that there is a massive chain up to the CIA and IAO. Are people aware that many people sit on boards of companies, some directly involved in the company, others virtually independent of the company? Shock horror, if two people have worked on the board of the same company (note, the article does not mention if they were even on the boards AT THE SAME TIME) they MUST be in cohoots, and hence the entire companies must be one and the same... Come on, reading this much into Facebook and it's ventures into the marketing industry is stretching it a little. Sure, information is gathered in these applications, but that's what you get

This is THE INTERNET. If you really don't want someone to know that you finished Catch In The Rye, then don't put it online. What did you think would happen? Common sense tells us, if you don't want something known, then don't write it down. Most of the information is stuff that most people would give willingly in a survey. So companies would be stupid not to use this to make things easier. Unless you are a spy you can stay calm...

I don't like the TOS that allow Facebook to redistribute information uploaded to the site. I'm an artist. So I just stopped uploading stuff (photos/vids) to Facebook, and got rid of some of the stuff I had uploaded. As for anything else I post, if I don't want people seeing it, then I don't post it. The CIA is the least of my worries about who reads whats on my Facebook. I'm more worried about other sites I've signed up for (Amazon, iTunes, etc.) giving out information about me that's somehow connected with my Facebook information. So what if I bought a humidifier in the past 2 months? If I wanted to do things anonymously, I could. (Or at least a lot closer to anonymously.) And, I'll just get this out now, I've read Catcher in the Rye. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. (Waits for minion to start entering data on CIA computer)

As if it were limited to Facebook... As soon as you are online all this information is gathered and studied. Just don't share the very private stuff if you don't want to. It's like socializing; if you don't want it known, don't let it be known. Soon as you let one person know something, you no longer can be absolutely sure that the information is not being shared.

You have no privacy, get over it. The only privacy you have is that that you keep inside your own brain. The minute you post it, tell someone else or write about it anywhere, it is no longer private. GET OVER IT. Besides, what are you going to do about it anyway? Whine, bitch and post on the internet some more? Yeah, that will fix it.

Why does this surprise anyone anymore? The government has been data mining for years. So, if you are afraid of the government gathering data on you don't use the internet, credit cards, library cards, and/or your computer. In short just stay home and hide.

You can tell which posters are Americans in here. They're the ones saying "who cares, i have nothing to hide." They've been broken by the system, they think being spied on is completely acceptable.

"You may remove your User Content from the Site at any time. If you choose to remove your User Content, the license granted above will automatically expire, however you acknowledge that the Company may retain archived copies of your User Content." Try reading the entire TOS and privacy agreement. You too paranoid :/

Yes, WE SHOULD ALWAYS BE CONCERNED WITH OUR PRIVACY and we have the freedom to post whatever we want on the internet, that's why you read the terms that you are agreeing to before signing up and then use your freedom to not post things that would breach your privacy. Facebook provides a great service and doing so is unfortunately very expensive for those who run it. I voluntarily give up information that I am comfortable with them selling in return for them providing me a service. If I give up more, then that is my own fault, much like if I pay way more for a car than it is worth it is my own fault. If a car dealer sells a car, the government will want a share of the money regardless of how much was transacted. If Facebook collects information, the government will want a share of the information regardless of how much was transacted. Don't get angry at the dealership for using their freedom to set their own prices, just bring your business elsewhere and focus on government reform.
