Audra Lowe: That’s how you can layer your home similar to how you layer your
wardrobe and you can do it all by yourself.
Jennifer Adams: You can definitely set in around the country and fashions change and you
see more layering and you see more drape counts. Things are more one
and seeing should go to for your home. There is a lot of things that you
can do on your own and you better to learn from them into the designer
and we are here at Jean’s house and she invite us in here home, hi Jean.
Jean: Hi.
Jennifer Adams: Thanks for bring us in and let’s took around of your house. So what are
the two that key elements that you do to change your home from
springtime over to the fall?
Jean: Well I like to add a lot of texture, I like to have some close on the furniture
and bring in some gold tone in the pillows, area rugs and lots of candles,
bringing the plants from outside just warms it all over.
Jennifer Adams: So when you design for fall do you the same principles applies that you
are going to design in and have color brown in mid level and eye level?
Jean: Yes, those elements and principles never change that’s our guideline all
the time so if you follow it you can’t make a mistake.
Jennifer Adams: Your living room is right off the main entry of your house.
Jean: What I really appreciate here is not gimmicky but you it feels very warm
and very flower like it this your normal set up for your living room?
Jean: No, I usually have it a little more neutral but in the winter I like to add the
texture and the mid tones in the throws in the pillows.
Jennifer Adams: I love those fussy warm pillows.
Jean: Oh everybody does, they’re therapy.
Jennifer Adams: And you have a lot of candles.
Jean: Do you and most people don’t like there candles and they’re just
wonderful ambiance.
Jennifer Adams: They are, you have everything to add the ambiance is light and have that
ambience lighting I feel really and it warms the rooms significantly so.
Jean: And most people don’t have enough lights in the room, you can always
turn them off but you could have many lamps in the room to get that
wonderful lighting.
Jennifer Adams: Wow you mount is gorgeous.
Jean: Thank you I like to load that in, I love clocks and I love books so I like to
warm it up in layer, layer, and layer.
Jennifer Adams: And that’s for all right?
Jean: Yeah.
Jennifer Adams: And then on spring?
Jean: I take away, we want thing to see a little cooler and breezier.
Jennifer Adams: Could things could be challenge in places doormats?
Jean: Yes.
Jennifer Adams: What do you do already if reaching to the fall?
Jean: Well I like to bring all the plants in from outside and get it out for the
summer and I like to bring in the fall vegetables and display them and I
think they give a lot of color and texture, candles, candles and candles and
I love trays putting things in trays and just makes a little more interesting
on the counter.
Jennifer Adams: I like this you did as the lime bubble in the candles.
Jean: Yes, yeah. Simple, simple, simple but it has a lot of impress. Normally I
don’t have this here but I wanted to bring this across the room and one
trick that I like to do is to add real flowers to give some looking and it’s
really cuts down on the budget.
Jennifer Adams: Jean that’s a great tip so thank you so much.
