Ken Dolan: So, while we’re still in my space mobile, I’m ready for some traveling this fall. Mostly air made because I think there might be some competition between the airlines since the economy stays slow, Daria. I’m guessing that there maybe some competition between the airlines to get us off the roads and back flying.
Daria Dolan: Yeah, but don’t forget the airlines are also cutting back on the number of seats available because they’re canceling flights left to right and sideways.
Ken Dolan: More pain to have.
Daria Dolan: Meaning that fewer seats allow them to raise the prices further.
Ken Dolan: Raise of prices what?
Daria Dolan: Further.
Ken Dolan: I thought you said that. Also you have to be careful for these feeds by the way. Watch out for that second bag. Certainly, watch out for the third bag and listen also.
Daria Dolan: And in some case don’t bring a bag.
Ken Dolan: Well, that’s another story. I like the idea of no check in.
Daria Dolan: And you say Fed Ex?
Ken Dolan: Also when you’re finding one or two airlines and not charging for water thank you for remembering that.
Daria Dolan: Hopefully. Oh, please.
Ken Dolan: I think there’s going to be some competition this fall so there maybe some deals. Keep your pencil handy when we tell where you can get some good travel deals specifically.
Daria Dolan: But you’ve got to act quickly.
Ken Dolan: You have to have to do it your own.
Daria Dolan: How would you like to see the Eternal City that’s Rome in Italy.
Ken Dolan: Where’s that? Oh Rome.
Daria Dolan: At $192.00 round trip.
Ken Dolan: No. It’s up 19%, went up 19%. How about Cancun up only two? My point is you have to shop around. Rome is up 19%.
Daria Dolan: I’m writing the numbers from now on.
Ken Dolan: Never mind. It’s okay. I’ve never thought penmanship. Remember the parking method, the park man method. I flunk. I took the parking method they were doing the park man method. Rome is up 19% on average. Cancun is up only 2%. Seattle is up only 7%, so I’m not telling you where to go, but I’m telling you that you shop around. You’ll see some up dramatically and some not so.
Daria Dolan: Always look for midweek for a couple of reasons. Generally, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are cheap to travel days. And a lot of people are waiting until the end of the work week to leave to go anywhere.
Ken Dolan: So they cannot get off.
Daria Dolan: So you may have better luck with seats and overcrowding won’t be as bad we hope.
Ken Dolan: And also a lot of the airlines were either on Tuesday night or Wednesday will post their web deals, so be careful of that. Look at that Tuesday night, Wednesday thing for smooth coming travel deals which is kind of nice. And you know if you can stay flexible on travel they start you’re going to be a lot better off.
Daria Dolan: Really, absolutely you can for example, check the best date for your price. What you’re willing to spend.
Ken Dolan: Yeah.
Daria Dolan: And then check two weeks from that.
Ken Dolan: Check the price.
Daria Dolan: And the direction and check the price there as well.
Ken Dolan: And do it another two weeks either way also.
Daria Dolan: Yeah.
Ken Dolan: Just to check it out. That’s a good idea.
Daria Dolan: Now everybody can’t do that unless you’ve got tons of time.
Ken Dolan: That’s the flexibility.
Daria Dolan: And no boss.
Ken Dolan: And you also want to take a look and sign up some airline newsletters. They’ve got some sort of email deals. Sometimes you’ll see those some less minute travel deals. So signing up for free by the way for some of these frequent flyer, email travel letters. Not in frequent flyers just airlines e-letters there some good deals there also.
Daria Dolan: And we talk to our friend Tom Parsons.
Ken Dolan: At Best Fares.
Daria Dolan: At BestFares.com and here’s some deals that BestFares.com has unearthed.
Ken Dolan: Relating to credit card deals.
Daria Dolan: Yes.
Ken Dolan: You don’t call the airlines on this.
Daria Dolan: No.
Ken Dolan: But Europe, Caribbean, Hawaii and Mexico for $139.00 round trip. Sounds kind of whacky but it relates to a particular credit card offer. Again, BestFares.com.
Daria Dolan: Another credit card deal is available through Southwest Airlines, the only smart airline on the planet.
Ken Dolan: That they want to get in money.
Daria Dolan: There still pay in $55.00 about of their oil.
Ken Dolan: Their edge is the price of oil.
Daria Dolan: Exactly.
Ken Dolan: What do they got?
Daria Dolan: $59.00 round trip to 64 cities. You’ve got to check your credit cards for the deal.
Ken Dolan: Keith wants to go to Boston, our engineer son-in-law.
Daria Dolan: Again he just came back.
Ken Dolan: But still he wants to go there. Also some cruise bargains on BestFares.com for active military and veterans. Let it suffice to say, act fast, pick your dates reasonably well, check the web for their web for deals.
Daria Dolan: And when it’s all said and done.
Ken Dolan: Bon Voyage.
Daria Dolan: We hope you can get out of your backyard.
Ken Dolan: That’s right, happy travel this fall.
