Shalom! This is video is about false prophecy. In order to begin, I need a read you a text from Deuteronomy chapter 13. Where Moses says, we are starting two,
If there appears among you a prophet or a dream diviner and it gives you a sign or portrait saying, Let us follow and worship another god whom you have not experienced, even if the sign or portrait that he named you comes true, do not hear the words of the prophet and dream diviner, the Lord your God is testing you and see if what are you really love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul.
Following none but, I do not know I do not have the Lord your God. And revere non by him. Observe his commandments alone and he hid only the words and worships none but him and hold fast him.
Okay so, you have there, kind of a very clear text that there are going to be people that are coming along in history and say Follow me, I am the dream divider tell you to follow other gods. Do not listen to them. Even if some of their tricks come true.
So the Jewish people have experience countless, countless pretenders to try and stir us to other religions. Christianity for example, Islam saying do not follow [Foreign Language], follow this one or follow that one.
In similarly related to this is the idea of false messiahs that we have had offered in our history. People would have come and said I am the Messiah, follow me, I have got new ways of living your life that to stir you away from the basic ideas of torah forbidding Judaism.
Now Jews, first of all believe that Jesus is one of those false messiahs. Those who claim that he is god clearly would fall outside the realm of Judaism and would be a violation of that chapter. Someone who does wonders and signs, it says do not follow, [Foreign Language], follow me.
Now, later on in Jewish history, there are other people like that too. For example in 132 to 135, Roby Akiva back to Man in Cabarcoziba in a rebellion against Rome and thought he was the Messiah. And of course that ended disaster of slay the Jews were barb from Jerusalem and really was one of the significant things that propelled the Diasprah, the life of the Jewish outside of Israel, the false messiah of the Markova.
And much later in Jewish history, there are others but the most famous were two one named Jacob Frank and one named Chad Heidsody. They both live right before the development of Hasidud in 1700 and live within a 100 years or so of that, and they both claimed to be the Messiah. They have backers who supported them as the messiah.
They both to be exposed to be fraud, lots of the European Jury believe that they were the messiah. Until one was forced to convert to Christianity and one to Islam, exposed these false messiahs and really devastated the moral of jury.
Though out of this rose constituted, one of the major critics of Hasidud by the none Hasidud at that time. Fearful of this were again false messianic movement and excommunicated them actually, were because of this, the Hasidud raising up with the Rabbi to exulted position after they experiences is of [Foreign Language] named Jacob Frank, many were worry that this going to be another false messianic movements.
And some people today believe the way that the one particular Hasidud group, the Labaviture, inveterate their dead Rabbi. Boarders on this idea of kind false messiahnism. And when you see posters that say with his picture Mel [Foreign Language], King Messiah and then all his homes that have pictures of human on the wall, prominent picture, almost like some Christians somewhere out picture Jesus. And makes you wonder and have they cross the line their on that issue of false messiahnism.
Now my relatives in Israel our brought love hosidim and they had one Rabbi, Rabbi who was the great [Foreign Language], he died 98 in the 1700 and he said you do not need another Rabbi, I will come back and they believe that.
So, you have got this dead Rabbis, labavage Rabbi, you got the [Foreign Language] Rabbi, you have this dead Jewish teacher Jesus is revered by more than a billion people and well claimed or people will for them that they will come back as the messiah some say it will come back with as God. And we had say the only God is I do not know [Foreign Language] and we have no evidence that the messiah is ever lived yet cause the world is still stinks and has it man any of the biblical ideas about what happen to the messiah comes.
And so we are very weary of anybody claiming his wealthed status, we trust in god, we are god based religion and as Jew really even though we hopefully wait messianic era with caution as the monotheist thought us. We do not believe he has come yet and we do not believe we have had this prophets and dreamers who are legitimate. Who want to stir us away from Judaism should be embrace and accepted.
So hope that explains that a little bit about some of the at least one Jews mindset about false prophecy and tricks that people can do to make it look like they are supported by god. Famous story of a Talmed 2000 years ago about a Rabbi who was crying to one argument and he kept claiming calling for miracles and they occurred mountains moved and the Rabbi is still voted against them say we do not rely on the tricks like that, we rely on unreasoned wisdom.
Well know it for sure when we see it but until then is god alone.
