Brian: Hi I’m Brian Joyner from Be Better Guys.com A guys guide to getting a
life. We’re talking about the fundamental of the man’s wardrobe and
we’re talking about sports coats and sweaters right now.
The sport coat, if you own, if you don’t own a suit or if you don’t wear
soon on a regular basis a sport coat maybe as much as you need for dress
up or for work attire so we’re looking at David here who’s wearing the
quintessential sports coat and maybe blue blazer and we spoke before
about when you’re wearing suits, when you’re wearing sport coats and
things that it should fit you.
If you look at David this fits him nice and snug. It’s flat across his chest,
there’s no puckering, you come across the back, there’s no puckering here.
It’s smooth, it covers he’s behind because no one needs to see that. It’s
long enough in the sleeve but not too long. A lot of this can be taken care
off with a tail but a lot of it can, there’s a lot of it canned as well so as
what suits tailoring and fit are going to be big issues so I mentioned that
the navy blazer is probably the quintessential sport coat.
You may only need a couple of these, some people have several, I have 2
examples here I want to show you. This is a light weight one for summer
and spring. It’s wool and linen and silk, it’s a plaid patch pocket, it’s nice
and jazzy kind of springy with a dark pair of khakis. You could wear these
with a pair of jeans and it would be phenomenal.
Over here this is a wooled sports coat but it’s got more for bird’s eye
pattern. It’s a little darker but still it has got a little pop to it. It’s not just
your standard you know jacket you throw in. If you’re looking around for
a sport coat nowadays you can see great plaids, great stripes, a wonderful
range of things you can have then again 2 to 3 maximum is probably what
you’re going to need.
After the sport coat we want to talk about sweaters and sweaters are a nice
compliment to jackets as sport coat and as a matter a fact they may even
replace the sport coat in some cases. Here we have three different
examples. We have a cardigan and cardigan is have been making a come
back for the last several years.
This is a good looking sweater blue and a red, never button the last button,
keep it free here along your waist. Now the other end of the cardigan
spectrum is this zip up more of a track style suite. The gray, the blue, this
is a good look. This is a little bit sporty look, this is a little bit dressier
look, you could get away with wearing this with a tie, this is definitely
much more of a casual thing.
And then for winter and fall traditional turtle neck and black is a great
looking sweater. You can do, you can get a lot of wear out of this.
So next we’ll be talking to you about outerwear.
