Fashion for Men - How to Match Your Belt
Hello Aaron Marino from Alpha M Image Consulting back at you for another men’s
fashion and style tip. Today I’m going to discuss belts. Now some of you were thinking,
“Aaron, it’s about who cares, nobody pays attention to that” if that’s you, you really need
to pay attention today because it’s simply not true. I’ve often said that shoes make the
man. But at the belt makes the outfit. You should also know by now that shoes and belts
should match by color but they also need to match in texture in finish also.
Let me show you and give you an example. Notice shiny black shoes, shiny black belt.
The belt and shoes match but if in texture and finish. It’s pretty easy when talking about
black, brown on the other hand is a different animal, okay there are about 20 different
shades of brown that you can get, here’s an example of 3 of them and one brown belt that
works with one shoe does not necessarily work with the other brown shoe so what you do
when you have a new pair of brown shoes, wear them in to the store and look for a belt
and buy one that matches appropriately.
Never try to match a brown shoe and brown belt by memory, it never works out. Trust
me save the gas money. Next thing, just like shoes belts also wear out, okay so depending
on how much you’re wearing that belt you need to replace it about ones every year to two
years, the only exception if you recently gained your loss to significant amount of weight
you’re belt is going to have sores or indentations along the holes. You need to go out
today and get a new belt; it’s not a good look.
Lastly, a lot of men ask me what is the appropriate hole or where should I be wearing the
belt. It’s pretty easy get your belt and find the center hole, okay, that hole right there
that’s the money hole, that’s where you wan to be. You can be in one hole to the right or
one hole to the left but if you’re anywhere other than that you’re belt is not the right size
and you need to go out and get a new one. General rule of thumb, you want to buy a belt
one size larger than your waist size so if you wear a 34-inch waist pant get a 36-inch belt.
Go to your closet, see what you have, see what you need and I’ll see you back real soon
and take care and have a great day. Bye-bye.
