Today I want to take just a moment and discuss image consulting, what it is and what we do. It never ceases to my amaze me every time I go to a network and a better function I’m talking to people and ultimately the question posted, “Aaron what do you do for a living?” And I tell them I say I’m an Image Consultant with that I sit back and wait because 9 times out of 10 the next question out of their mouth is well, “What’s an image consultant, what do you do exactly?” And I tell them I say the shrewd answer is I basically help people look better and then they smile nervously and look down at what they’re wearing and typically apologize for something that they’re wearing and I could can calm them I say don’t worry about it, you look fantastic I wouldn’t change a thing, then I hand him a business card. But think of image consultants as artists, where other artists use mediums such as musical instruments or granite and chisel or canvass paint, paint brushes, the paint is their masterpiece. Our canvass is the individual client and the medium that we use, instead of paint and paint brushes are grooming, wardrobe and body language. And our goal and our masterpiece is when we help somebody achieve aesthetic excellence or we help put the pieces together, manipulate the variables that we can to help them present a better package and a more polished cell, okay. But you’re thinking, “Why would I hire an image consultant, I’ve got a ton of friends or people that I could ask if I really needed the help.” Well what an image consultant offers you is honest unbiased third party perspective. We don’t know you, we don’t love you; we don’t sit next to you in church every Sunday. We are unbiased in our opinion. We take a mental inventory of everything about you that we can modify or change in order to help you present a better look or image. Now here’s a fun exercise for you. I want you to find somebody that you know that you think always looks great. They always present themselves with air of confidence; they’re always stylish, always well put together. Sit him down and ask him. I’m saying you know tell me, tell me what would you do or change about me if you were me to help present a better package or look. You know I must warn you though be careful because if you ask them they may tell you the truth, okay. Don’t think a bit as criticism, think of it as opportunity for improvement. Now if you don’t like what they say or you don’t agree, with it ask somebody else. If you see a theme developing it might be time to hire a professional, alright. Now this exercise does have its flaw though. The people that you ask already know and love you. They’ve already gotten passed all of the— you know style or pause that you present on a daily basis or aesthetic you know insufficiencies. They love you and quite frankly they don’t wan to hurt your feelings. So what do you do then? Go to a professional and then mention, an image consultant, how you find one. Go in the internet and do a search in your local area. You’re going to find a ton of image consultants. Talk to a bunch of them. Now you’re thinking well it must be pretty expensive. Well image consultants offer a wide variety of packages you can pay by the hour or you can pay by the service but think of it as an investment in yourself. You are your most important asset so go out there, search and look and to quite a few of them before you make a decision. You want to feel comfortable with the person that you’re working with because you’re dealing with you and at sometimes touchy subjects so make sure you feel comfortable with them. So go about look at those image consultants, talk to them and I want you to go out and be absolutely stunning and remarkable, okay.
