Emma Howard: I've got a question here from a young man, he turns 26 that's young to me any way and generally he says on I'm very athletic but recently I found it hard the keep weights off, now he wants to that this could be the symptom of a serious health problem.
Dr. Jonty Heaversedge: Okay, so the first thing is, is it a serious health problem. Isn't it and actually the answer for that is, whom exactly not. As a Doctor I'm much more worried about unexpected weight loss, and then I'm about and expected weight gain.
Emma Howard: The last would have the serious weight problem up you know, serious weight from serious health problem.
Dr. Jonty Heaversedge: Potentially serious underlying problem, and If you loose weight unexpectedly but gaining weight is much more likely due to changes in life style. And I guess you know he is 26 you know with that age a lot of things changed, we tend to start taking a little bit less exercise.
Emma Howard: Because he might know I'm imagining a 26 year old man he is quiet athletic may be he is drinking more than he realize as he been doing.
Dr. Jonty Heaversedge: Absolutely and developing bit of bigger belly which will not happens to all of us, you know with the age if those go out of the keep the weight off I'm sure and I think that's why alcohol is really shit for men, and particularly and trying to just keep within the limit, because realistically it had a lot of calories on to your diet, so its pops up something that he could try.
Emma Howard: He is getting on the scarce, he is saying his weight go up, but if its alcohol related would it the weight sit mainly on his tummy, lot of men carry that bear and they worrying that.
Dr. Jonty Heaversedge: That they do around their tummy, they get that sort of over a hanging bit over the belt, Yeah.
Emma Howard: Should he be measuring that?
Dr. Jonty Heaversedge: That's really important, I mean if he goes along to see his GP or practitioner they could check his body mass in that, which is a good indicator whether he is become over weight, so if he may have been under weight in the first place instead of taken and his weight may be absolutely within the normal range right now, but the other thing when encouragement is to do use a tape measure and the measure around their waist no way women measure their waist which is around their belt line the more set of Simon Cavell belt line near up front the, exactly the tummy button that and actually we know that If your waist around the middle is over 37 inches than is a man you more at risk of cardio vascular disease, which is struggle to heart risk later on your life so I'm absolutely, I think he could, he could certainly check to see whether he is in the normal range or not.
Emma Howard: But on the horizons pretty healthy it is, doesn't it?
Dr. Jonty Heaversedge: Yeah, he does actually he just watch out things kind of sleep, I mean it happens to, happens to over.
