Welcome to edition lifestyle.com edition lifestyle video show. In this video we’re going to be looking at some of the media center and the media center centric features of windows seven. This is not meant to be a reviewer complete over feature, but it’ just some of the things that I’ve seen while I’ve been playing around it over the last couple of weeks and this are running with the beater. I’ve got two machines set up, one HP touch one which I have to show you to be the center and touch UI. This is the main media server and, Samsung MC ten, that book with the windows seven and that’s set to hang groups so we can share contents between the two. So that’s the first thing that I wanted to look out on the video.
The whole is a new feature in windows seven where content can be shared between machines, it’s not just about media center, you can share music, TV, videos, pictures, documents and when you build a new PC, as it’s going though the installer. It says “do you want to join a home group?” and if it’s the first time you used home group it doesn’t detect any other PCs over that work group it will say, “ok here’s a key to create home group.” And then you put that key on your machines and when it detects the home group what it can do it for networks, Settings. And then that joins the lot, almost like a domain so that; this interesting machine can see the content shared on that and sought it around the networks. So it’s really replaces the need to go with math drives and shared folders and all that kind of networking stuffs you need to do to get things working. And of course the one thing you can do without the networking site was, if you got here, this is a recording content then it will show here automatically without closing the media center, refresh it or whatever. So that is a nice feature and it’s going to make a lot of things easier for people with multiple machines which a lot of people get notebooks now and laptops as well.
We’ll look at that, and also a quick look at play tunes, as well as which we have mentioned on the blog which is to dealing a feature where you can play from one machine to another buyer another and so on. And well actually have a quick look at the touch UI which I’ve got at the past.
So the first thing that we will do, I’ll move the camera around and we’ll have a quick look at the home groups and how we can share contents between machines. Right, ok, so I’ve got here my name user sent to machine and my net book for the wireless network. So I’ve joined a home group already so on the net book, I’m going to go to recorded TV, and here you can see two recordings, and this one came with it, and this one was actually pulled from the other machine, I’ll show you we do that in a moment. So this is now TV tuner and let’s say, I want to watch this show, this is a locally stored show, ok go into, restart; there we go, so I’ve got recorded TV working on that, that was a show recorded and pulled across, I’ll show you that in a minute. But if I go to shared on there, we can no see this pivots here, so we’ve got recorded TV which is thins on thins machine, Clark, named after June Clark which is this machine.
Sender, sender, seven B, windows seven B is the sender, it’s the machine down there, and then all content is a view with all content in; so let’s go to all content. So now what we’re seeing is some shows from recorded from this machine on here, and we’ll also see some others and from the other machine down there. So this is from, this is actually Clark Machine, which is this one. So here’s a show which I’m going to watch.
Ok so this now is being played on this machine, but over the while as it has taken the content, from the touch mall, you see, this is Willy Wallace, this is Emma Lyn, and it’s just how well it plays back in the net book and great for watching media center content when you are on the go. Now let’s say I like this and I want to watch this when I’m traveling, so I’ll have my menu media machine connected so I can make a copy. That’s going to do now is to copy that content from this machine 0508l, over to that machine. And that’s exactly what it did with the other show that was on there and as you can see as I was watching the screen light program that worked fine.
So that’s how home group works showing that way, if you go around to this machine, so this is my main machine, if I go to shared I can go to into the frangio which is that machine and there you can see the show which is actually original is, done here is a copy of it and you can stream it back and you can copy it back as well. So it does all from the media center UI. I can also go into another test machine and there are only cool files on that one and again I could play that file. So that is the content stored in the machines. If I go to all content, this is the entire different machines content stored in one so I don’t think we’ll see great ordeal in here.
Now I’ve noticed one book, you may will do where some of these recordings have gone, so let’s say the anti-crowd there on this machine shows up on there and that’s actually a recording was done with the vista partition and it’s not showing up with the home group. So I think that looks like a bug, so I need to get logging that one. So that’s home group with the; we can actually leave that it’s going to carry a copy in the background to see a stock copy, so that’s home group for video or for TV.
We go to music, the music library. Ok so we go pod cast on that but we can do the same thing with that, we go to pivot; going to shared, we can see a few more views here and we got the music library, we got the machines, it looks like it’s also showing up and shared libraries as you would see in windows media player. So the Louis Fox and the Hamilton is a windows home server and I have got some content there, huge amount, little bit smaller in this machine. So we can actually play from that, and that’s not even joined in the home group touch usually in the windows media connect sharing and let’s see if I can, that song over there net book which is windows media player actually a XP device another, anything else than that one over there. So doubt that there’s any content on that one to show. Let’s have some look on some music on, Clark, and I’m sure there, I’ve not put any music to that yet, so I’ll have a look at that.
So you can see the idea behind these is I can go into any machines and pull content down one central place and have it all lay on there, I’ll have it go some music star and show up. So this stuff coming from center box which is the media center down there and you can play that. Which I’m just thinking about it, there we go, we’ve got that played and also you noticed that one of the new features of this visual playback with the level of that machine. And again we could do that with pictures as well and videos. So here, play some pictures, these are some of the sample pictures of the other windows seven machine but as you see though the shared over here, I don’t think I’ve authorized this machine, from windows, didn’t connect. But what’s interesting is it’s showing machines other than windows seven machines when it comes to; so you got you home server, you’ve got your windows seven machines, your vista machines can also show up the pictures as well.
