Dan: Hi everyone, Dan Boatman, Amplitude product manager, and I’m here outside the Fender booth at winter Nam 2009, where I’m joined by Shane Nicholas, the senior marketing manager from Fender guitar amps. And we’re here to show you the results of our latest collaboration, Amplitude Fender. Amplitude Fender is an exciting new powered by Amplitude product that celebrates Fender’s 60 years of innovation in guitar amp and effects technology. Basically what we’ve done is we’ve partnered with Fender to recreate some of their most iconic guitar amps, stomp effects, rack effects, and microphones, and make them available in software form in either stand alone or plug in. So basically, it enables guitarists and musicians of all budgets to dial in some of the most legendary tones imaginable in a very convenient way. And Shane is kind enough to join me here, he’s gonna walk us through some of the amazing gear that we’ve been able to recreate in Amplitude Fender, and just gives us a little bit of the sense of the history and the character of some of these really famous amps.
Shane: Thanks Dan. The folks at Fender are very excited to partner up with IK Multimedia on this project. See at Fender we believe that the thrill of plugging into a great amp is never gonna go away, but, the convenience and the creativity of plugging right into the computer with your guitar is really compelling, and that’s not gonna go away either. So why not partner up and be able to give in recording enthusiasts a chance to get the right sounds, and the right look, and the right feature set from Fender with the great sounding models of IK Multimedia. So let’s take a look at a couple of them. The ‘57 Deluxe is known by blues players and rock players and rocker billy players are having an amazing compress distortion, that’s really fun to play. The ’57 Deluxe gives you that kind of a thick over loaded, muddy tone. Now let’s go to another Fender classic, the ’65 Twin Reverb. This amplifier was designed in the ‘60s to be as clean as possible, and today most people would say that what is the greatest clean guitar tone of all time? You probably say it’s Twin Reverb. Turn the Reverb up on that a little bit and surfs up. Twin Reverb, true classic from Fender. Now, it’s not all about old guys and old music, we want people to be making new music with Fender amplifiers today. We’ve got amps like the Supersonic, which is a high gain, sustain and distortion machine. And the Supersonic has a dual stage free amp that lets you dial in all kinds of different distortion characteristics to suit your guitar playing. So let’s put a touch of reverb on there, maybe a little bit of less of the front end gain. So the flexibility and the creativity that this offers, whether you’re using Garage band or Ableton live or Steinberger Pro tools or whatever you have, this is gonna let you get a lot of the iconic Fender voicings and flexibility right on your PC. So, you know, you can get the thrill of plugging in to the real amp, and you can also get the creativity and the flexibility of plugging right into your computer and that, at Fender ended IK, we think that that’s good stuff. Now one more thing that people want to play with is effects, and there actually are some iconic effects that Fender has come out with over the years. And we’ve actually reissued most of these. The Phaser. The Blender. The Fuzz Wah, and the ’63 Reverb unit are all classic Fender effects that have unique tones that people can use on recording. So we’ll flip our Phaser on here, you see that nice multi colored light, telling you the tempo. So thanks Dan, I had a really good time working on this project with you folks and I hope we do some cool stuff in the future. Check out the Amplitude Fender edition today.
