Fender Pro Jr Review
Hey, this is Gerald of Learning Guitar Now and I wanna give you a little update about the pro junior. I’ll give you a video on how to use the pro junior to get a lot of gain and distortion and this is kind of a part two video. And this video I’m gonna show you the speaker that are now I’m using with the pro junior and, I don’t know if you can see different there, but it’s a, it’s actually an Eminence Copperhead, 10 inch speaker. That’s a replacement for the standard stock speaker in the pro junior. And once again JJ Tesla EL 84 tubes for the power amp, pre amp. I’ve changed out to all groove tubes. So it’s got a groove tubes pre amp and a EL 84s in the power section and with the Eminence Copperhead 10 inch speaker. I’m gonna go ahead and give that a try out for you. Check out, compares to the other speaker. Okay, so let’s go ahead and take a listen to what the Eminence speaker sounds like it. To me it’s got, it kinda clears up the low end a lot, so, I’ve got a, the pro junior pretty much all max all the way to about 11 and the tone are about 7 or 8. So I’ve got the bridge pick up on, volume all the way up, just gonna have power chord opening tuning on a 12 fret. See the low end is a lot tighter now, so you can also turn down the volume to about 2 or 3 and it still bites little bit on the bridge pick up here. And it still has a nice sustaining sound to it when you turn it all the way up. Turn that volume switch up and you, you’re gonna hear that distortion, it’s a lot tighter now. To me it’s a lot warmer sounding to the stock speaker I had, the original Fender that comes in it. It just got a lot of warmer tones, switch over to the neck pick up, turn it down, you’re still a little bassy, but a lot, the bassy, the bassiness of it is a, you know, it’s not like wolfing out like it used to, and I find a lot of times, pro junior, the low end is just not tight at all, and now you can hear a lot tighter sound, really deep sounding tone with the, with the neck. It’s all in the neck pick up, you know, turn down to about 3 or 4, like I said again the low end is a lot tighter.Turn it up and then, and you’ll gonna get, you know, just a lot of, it’s more of a Warren Hanes types of sound. I think it sound the best when you get it in the bridge pick up for the pro junior. Although the middle position is cool too, let’s just try that out. So you can hear, you get that kinda states fair blues sound when you add the middle position with the SG. It’s just some, if you can tell it’s just a lot tighter end. You got, you just, the low end is just so much tighter, and then the high end it gets a crisp kind of bite, and it still did with the stock speaker but it’s kinda wolfy sound, so yah, lot tighter. More Dwayne sounding I think on the bridge pick up in here, now that really. So anyway, that’s a little bit of review of the Eminence speaker there. It’s just a lot tighter, the low end, if you hit it with a chord side mode slide. It’s a lot cleaner, and still retains the crispness of the notes. You hear that Omen Brothers, they’ve been using that kind of tone a lot, you know. So anyway, I highly make it, recommend getting the Eminence Copperhead speaker and I chose that over the Vintage 30. I just wanna try something different, and I’m really happy with the results. So anyway, that’ my review of the pro junior with the Eminence speaker Copperhead. If you’re looking to check that out then, it’s a lot cheaper too, I think it’s only about 65, 70 bucks for this speaker, so pretty easy to chain yourself as well. So that’s it for this little video.
