It will mainly cause problems with Linux hosting because filenames with a different case are seen as a different files in the Linux System whereas in the Windows there are seen as the same file.
For example for the Linux “lowercase.txt” is different to “Lowercase.txt” I the Window there as the same file. A folder named “C:\ALLINCAPS” Windows will actually display it as a “C:\allincaps”.
Hello, I am going to be to quick demo and sometimes that you might find some problems with filenames if you host the website. Let us say you host a website on Linux server on your download the filename to your local drive. Sometimes a case to that filename might get change on the local drive and Linux saves these filenames that have being different low case and over case are different so long as Linux is concern whereas for Windows they are the same.
Now, it possible to where change this by changing a small value in the Windows registry. I am going to give you a demonstration of that and I am using Instant Video Suite again. Great project just go on acomputerportal.com find it and download it.
Fist of all, anyway, we need to go under the start click on Run type in regedit that is regedit for like edit registry, click on ok. I move this Window down a little bit that will open of registry edit window here. We need to click on the plus sign where you can double click or there are different ways of doing this far. Click on the plus sign here. On HKEY_CURRENT_USER, you click on that. Look for software down here and now click on the plus sign again. Move that over bit and then you will find Microsoft. Again, click on the plus sign. That will open of quite a bigger list here.
What we need to be find in this windows. Now, scroll down. They have all in usually alphabetical order. Find windows as you can see over on my machine. I click on the plus sign again where I see is CurrentVersion. Click on the plus again. I move this over a little bit and then, look for explorer. I click on the plus sign get again in explorer and find Advance. Double click on that. That opens of this box of options here.
Of all we wanted the DontPrettyPath option. In my cases about they had option down apart from the default. Right click on that, see modify and then the date value. It probably have zero just change that to one, click ok. Close this box and then I would recommend rebooting. So next time you go in it will have that data value set and it should sort out this problem with filename being change to what case in all case.
