Sherrie: Over four million Canadians took advantage of net file last year; filling over the internet is the fastest way to get your refund usually within two weeks. It’s even faster if you use direct deposit. Kathleen Butler of the Canada Revenue Agency says there is no doubt Canadians love this service.
Kathleen: Its very easy to use net file. It’s safe and secure. We use net file certified software entering new information and then you finally returned directly to the Canada Revenue Agency as in the internet. Most people who finally get a net file access coding December as part of their tax package you better remember that this access code is confidential and should not be shared with anyone.
Sherrie: Net file is just one of several online services offered by the Canada Revenue Agency. Those who prepared tax returns for other people such as tax professional, Romeo Cacciotti are using a new service called represent a client.
Romeo: This is a terrific service because I can go online and access my client’s tax information where and when I need it. Before represent a client was introduced I would have to phone a right the Canada Revenue Agency to get the information. Now I just simply register once for the service and after my clients authorized me I can access the information I need.
Sherrie: After you return this file toward any other time during the year you can visit the CRA’s website and select the “my account” online service.
Kathleen: My account is another extremely useful online service. You can check on the status of your refund or how much you might owe. You can check to see whether you’ll be receiving a good services tax credit. You can view or make changes to your tax return, arrange for direct deposit and so much more.
Sherrie: To use to represent a client in my account services you must identify yourself to the CRA and register for a government of Canada e-Pass. An e-Pass is a unique electronic credential that lets you securely access various online services. Once you have an e-Pass you’ll be able to log in anytime with your user ID and password.
