Hey guys, this is E. Meek 77 and I am here with that final cut express tutorial from my final cut express users. All this can be applied from final cut pro and I am going to be getting back to the pro tutorial soon, but I just wanted to help up my final cut express users.
This is again from Tim Meehan and his 50 Final Cut Express Tips. He is the teacher on this one. So, acknowledgement to him, he thought me how to do this. What we going to do is… I got a dog clip, let me pull it in the canvas and let me show you what it looks like. Now, play it, you can see it is just a picture my dog, not my dog, but a picture of a dog in the bottom just the bottom chart of a dog, no problem.
Well, what we are going to make it look like a giant over top of this house here. What we are going to do is miss-scale this clip up, so it is fits completely on our window. What we are going to do is make a mask, I want to make a mask around this thing, you can use apples preview or photo shop. I am just using motion, because it is what I got. Then go up here to my mask button, click the musk button and I want to zoom in and start making my mask. Please excuse the sloppiness of this mask.
Sorry about that, guys, phone is ringing. Anyways, let me continue. You have to excuse like I said the sloppiness of this and this going through around this and do this really fast. Of course, you would not want to take more time with it and boom! We have our mask, but that is not part what we are looking for. So, we are going to open our hood up, go to the invert mask and click invert mask, boom! There we go, we have our mask are made now.
Now, what we want to do is save it, exported it out to either your final cut express project loaded it to the desktop. I have done this in advance, so I do not have to through those, all those step. I am going to clip back over to final cut express HD.
Now, I want to take the clip ahead of my house and drag it down to track one. As you can see that frozen in track one, double click it the logo in the viewer, go to your motion tab and scale it up. Make it to hold it for the canvas.
Now, make sure your target track is on V1, grab the mask and make sure you play head is at the beginning of your clip. Grab the mask you just made and drag it over to your canvas to super impose. Bam! And that will throw it over top of your roof line the same link in the time line, so we have stack on top of the other.
Now, we want to include our dog clip, so we make sure you move your V1 source tag up to clip track V2. Whatever this is on, is your source track, if it is on V3, V3 is your source track. Whatever you super impose will be laid on to that track. Whatever effects you have applied will be applied to that track. If I set it to the V2 the same will be applied. It was on V1, when I super imposed the roof mask, so impose it over the roofline because it was V1 was the source track. If I move the source track to V2 and super impose something, it is going to super impose it over top of track two. If I move it to turn to number three it is going to super impose my clip over track three. Do you understand?
So, whatever track you want to super impose the clip on, make sure the target track is selected. So, I want to super impose the dog clip over the mask clip. So, I am going to put my source track on V2. Now, I have got my source track on V2, if that makes any sense, I am going to take my big dog clip and select, drag it over and super impose and bam! This will throw my big dog clip on top of all the others, like a three-layered sandwich.
So, double click your big dog clip or whatever clips it maybe and scale it up to the whole size of the canvas. Now, we have our big dog clip or whatever it maybe covering all the other two layers. So, right click on your top track, my cases to dog, go to composite mode travel mat alpha. Travel Mat Alpha, boom! And this allows our mask to go to work. And, we render this out. Now, you can do this with dog, humans, objects, anything you want it is just something universal. Let me size up my window here, so you can see it better.
Now, when I play it through this, that big dog comes zooming in over the house. You can see were that mask kind of shaky, like did not take a whole lot of time with it, but you can see where I am going with this, it is looks like that dog is super gigantic, and it is super cheap, super cheesy, super way, easy effect and easy way to do things.
I hope this spark a few ideas. I hope it maybe got your setting a right direction and giving you an idea if you thinking buying final cut express and do not to get probe, because it is so expensive, but you do not know if you want to go with final cut express to just save up. Final cut express is very powerful and it is a very good beginning editing suite that over a hundred thousand post production houses in the United State use final cut express.
