(Music Playing)
Hey guys, this is Erick Mick. I got another final cut pro tutorial for you and it is time of like giving to the film look, kind of bringing up some detail I guess. It is a pretty good little trick you want to learn and play with it and see what you think about it. You might find certain situations that are good. And on the side note, my website www.finalcutstudioschool.com the domain name is messed up. It is still there, I have a temporary web address, I am going to post it at the end of this video and I am going to be getting a web domain name fixed in a couple of weeks. It will more than lastly become ericksfinalcutstudioschool.com but as of right now I got a temporary one set up and I will post it that in the end the video.
Now, let us get started on this tutorial. As you can see I have a clip that I have loaded down here into my timeline. No, I do not want to save it. Now, what I want to do is I want to double click this clip in the timeline to load it into the viewer. I want to go to my fix and I am going to add a color corrector three-way. Okay. After I add a color corrector three-way I want to duplicate this clip. What I am going to do is hold the option key push shift, shift and click and drag straight up.
And it will make a duplicate copy of my clip with the color corrector three-way filter in place. Double click the clip on top. Go to your color corrector three-way and pull the saturation all the way down. It will become black and white but we can remedy this, right click on the top of the clip. Okay, right click, scroll down to composite mode and select overlay. This will bring some color back and it is kind a give a filmish look but it is kind of dark and not what we wanted, so we are going to fix that.
Now, double click the clip in the bottom on track one to load it into the viewer. Okay and after you done that go into your color corrector three-way and bring the bright blacks up a little bit if you want to brighten it up. We play with it we will bring the wax up at 10, like a little brighter and maybe in a mid a little bit.
Now, we have a corrected clip by plan to with two color corrections pull the saturation out of one, applying a blend mode or compulsive mode and adjusting the color corrector on the one at the bottom.
Now, it does not look like much cannot tell the different but let me load in the clip from before the decided. Here, now here is the clip that is original. Now, let me mist this two together, all right. Click it and drag it around and we are going up the sequence and hit in mist. This will make them one out in the timeline as you can see instead of two.
To load the sequences into the viewer I hold the options key and double click and it will load into the viewer. Now, like I said here everything right, should that. Now, the one in the viewer is the one that we corrected. So let me find a good spot so you can see. That looks pretty good. Now, the one in the canvas on the rock is the one that we hit in the applied the filters to. Can you tell the difference? Look and see, this is the one without the filters and the correction and this is the one with. Can you see the veins in the flower so much more detail and the color is just vivid, a little bit more vivid and it is got more of a film look. Look at the petals in the middle of it shadow and the saturation in the shadow were just more alive I guest and over here all gleans in to kind of pinkish.
You cannot really see it but if you look real good you can see the definitions and one on the left is much better that the definition on the one on the right. Contrast is much, much better on the left photo. Use to applying those few simple little tricks there. As you can see the four on the rock and the actor on the left it is a settle difference but it is a big difference.
I have done it two or three times in two or three sequences here. As you can see the one on the right is the before, on the one of the left is the after. You can just see the veins in the petal more, it is just more defined and play around with this and see what you can get up with it and tell me what you think.
This is Erick Mick for now. I will post my temporary web address or you find my tutorials.
