Welcome to Tekzilla Daily, I'm Veronica Belmont. Have you ever wondered how secure your personal information is on your computer? Would you even know if you had sensitive information saved in a location that anyone could find? Well wonder no more with Identity Finder. Available at IdentityFinder.com, this program for Windows scours your machine for sensitive info and gives you a few secure methods for dealing with it. This is a free version but there are also paid for versions that dig even deeper into your computer. So be sure to check out the comparison chart to see which version is right for you.
When you first launch the program you’ll be asked to create a profile along with a password so you can later access your information. On the next screen just click start search now to begin a search with the default options or continue search wizard if you want to configure your search options like what information to search for and where to search for it. The free version of the software will search for any passwords or credit card numbers while the paid for versions will expand to search for social security numbers, drivers license numbers, phone numbers and more. The free edition will also only search your My Documents folder as well as Firefox and Internet Explorer, while the paid version search you whole drive emails and more.
Once the search is done click wizard to proceed to handle the information that it found. You can choose to shred this items which is a secure way to delete the files or skip them. If Identity Founder found information in Firefox it will asked if you want to enable Firefox this master password feature, which means Firefox will ask for a password each time you open the browser. So any passwords you have saved are a bit more secure from prying eyes.
So if you want to keep your sensitive information private but have no idea where to start give Identity Finder a try.
