Male: What are some tips for finding a good tutor or LSAT class?
Bernadette Chimner: Definitely want to look into the various classes out there because they are dramatically different concerning content and teacher and experience. And one of the biggest things when it comes to a class is the teacher. You know you went through undergrad, you understand that some teachers are really wonderful and entertaining and then some can be kind of boring and different teachers can be right for different people.
So, when it comes to choosing a class, shop around. A lot of different comings will let you sit in on a class with the teacher who is going to actually be teaching your class and that’s the greatest way to make sure that you’re going to get some data that you like and that you really learned from. When it comes to getting a private tutor because there are so many out there most private tutors will let you have that for sale or free.
Some of them won’t and in that case you definitely need to find a way to make sure you’re not going to be committed because the worst thing you could do is plant on a large chunk of money to a private tutor that it turns out you don’t really like. Along with that, make sure you ask both your teacher and your private tutor when you’re looking into classes whether they’ve taken the LSAT and how well they’ve scored. It’s amazing but as some of the people who offer their services online haven’t actually even taken the LSAT and this is true of even some companies.
So ask them. You don’t want somebody who’s never taking the LSAT teaching you the LSAT and no private tutor is going to have a problem showing you their score report. If they are hesitant to show you their score report then you need to pay all in out and find somebody else who’s more reputable.
