Finger picking and sweep picking and then combine this two together. So now really quick, if I do finger picking – finger picking is – the idea is my left hand is making a chord or maybe some type of note or something and that my right hand simply on chord are arpeggio, what I am playing in my left hand. So if my left hand is playing the C chord, my right hand can just arpeggio like this.
Okay, so that is the idea of finger picking where all I do is I am making a set of pattern and I am simply articulate all the notes. So let us do a zoom up on my right hand. I do not know if I can get a zoom in. Here is what my right hand is doing so let us make a C chord like this.
Okay, so that is the idea of finger picking. Now, what sweep picking is, is that it also has to do with arpeggios but how far into arpeggios? Well actually, what I am going to be doing is that when I am sweep picking, I am literally going to be taking the chord. So let us take for example this E chord. Okay, I am going to play this E chord and arpeggio ting it like this. Okay, or what I can do is I can actually finger pick them one note at a time right, so I can go like this or I can actually alter pick it, ready?
Okay, so oh yes you have a long lag there. Seriously, there is no lag code for me. So now right here, if I was to sweep pick that, the way that I do sweep picking is that sweep picking actually takes the chord. No that is not a nautical. That sweeping actually takes the core. So let us take that same C chord right here. So that sweeping actually takes the chord. I can now do this where I am literally playing one note at a time and while I am playing that chord, I am outlining the chord but with my right hand. I am doing that with my right hand. What I am doing is I am literally just doing all down picks, so watch my right hand, okay ready? So just going up and then back down, whereas in alter picking, I am actually doing this.
So sweeping is a soul technique where you play one note at a time instead of letting the notes ring out. Yes, absolutely, so notice that when I am playing this, which I also wanted to talk about, version took the words out of me though, out of my mouth is that when I am playing one note at a time, when I am alter picking like this, the notes are actually bleeding. Yes, we are using that word bleed again is that actually I am bleeding one note into the next, so that when I am doing this.
Notice how you can still hear that note from the bottom. So that note right there is still ringing out entirely throughout the entire piece. Now, I do not want that to make the chord and then sudden I do not want that. So the moment that you break it up is that you either lift up your finger. But those times how I am actually alter picking, down, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, okay or I could just sweep it. So go all down or all up and then all down like this. I can keep that with my left hand playing the chord.
Okay, so now how it is too similar, how they did from – well, technically they are different. One is actually using your fingers to play the notes whereas this one, the sweep picking, you are actually using your pick to play the note and then to take that even further, let us say that your left hand, you are actually keeping the left hand static while you are playing a chord. Now, with my finger picking, I am actually moving my hand around. I am actually walking my hand. So right here, the chord that I am playing here is actually an E major chord and the C chord is this. So here, we have this E. It is the same as this E. But it is just a different octave, notice how the sounds are the same though. I am sorry. Now listen to the chords that they used in things like yellow leper.
