This video will teach you how to make a new installed Firefox faster, more efficient and less cluttered. Also I will be showing you two Firefox extensions you would not able to live without after this video tutorial. I have a lot to go over so let us get started.
First thing in the list is the Bookmarks. I can just click Ctrl+B and access the bookmarks here they are the same as up here. I can also get the Bookmarks up here and again access the same stuff. So, this is pretty redundant. I can clear some space by right clicking and un-checking the Bookmarks Toolbar. I can also go to View, Toolbars, Bookmarks Toolbar to enable or to disable it. Also, I can free-up a lot more space. What if I could put all these buttons into one and that is exactly what the Firefox extension Tiny Menu does. It is a lot easier than the user Chromepack. So, it is pretty useful. I just got to install. It takes four seconds. Click install and I have it installed. The next thing I cannot live without is the Firefox extension called Tab Mix Plus. If you install too many extensions, it could affect the performance of Firefox so, be careful. So, I click Tab Mix Plus. I install now and I have both.
The next thing I want is maybe a Theme. Maybe a personalize it little bit and have a theme. I can just click Add-ons from the Tab Mix Plus page I was on and I can go to Themes here and then go to Browse all Themes ad I can order by Top Rated or Popularity so I can get the best rated themes and add a personal touch to my Firefox. I personally like the extension called Whiteheart. It is right here, click search, I am going ahead and install it too. It is about 300K. You can take whichever one you want. I just like Whiteheart because it is smaller. It has smaller icons I mean. If you go to Themes, I can click Use Theme to switch. If not, it would not automatically switch. Now, I click Restart Firefox and as you can see my Firefox already looks a little better; has a lot more space.
To take advantage of all the space, I can go right click and go to Customize and I can just start dragging icon on to the top Menu. It is really useful, so now I have a lot more space. For example, Backspace goes back. Forward, I cannot remember at the instant. If I click Escape, it stops the page from loading. If I click F5, it refreshes and the Home Key obviously, it loads home. F11 resizes so, these are a lot of hotkeys that you can use to take out a few of the most common buttons and I just click Done. I can take off the bottom tool bar just by right clicking and un-checking Navigation Toolbar.
Now I have a very clean layout and you would not get that from something like Internet Explorer. Like I said, I cannot live without Tab Mix Plus and I will show you why. If you go to Menu, Tools, Tab Mix Plus Options. Have you been browsing website, you click a link it opens a new page and by the end of about an hour, you have like several new browsers open. Each with different content and you have to switch back and forth. If you Enable Single Window Mode, when you click a link, it open in a new page. It opens up in a new tab instead; very, very convenient and not so annoying. So, that is the first thing I like to enable.
It also has useful features like open all JavaScript Popups in tabs; very, very useful on subjects of JavaScript. If you go to Menu, Tools, Options, you click the Content tab and you go to Advanced. Make sure that Move or resize existing windows is un-checked. There is nothing more annoying than JavaScript resizing your page and moving it, resizing your window and moving it so that is pretty useful.
Let me go back to Tab Mix Plus and explains some more stuff. Evens, Tab Opening, Load tabs on Blank Page by default, if I click Ctrl+T, it is going to open an untitled page with no contents. I rather have it as my homepage.
