The goal of the first date is to see if you’re compatible and get this, have some fun. So be positive, we’re naturally more attractive when we’re optimistic. Don’t dwell on life’s frustrations or go on about the pitfalls of your romantic past. Save that for after you send the—focus on things you like. Hobbies you enjoy. A great vacation or if you got nothing, compliment your date.
Male: I really like your blouse.
Jennifer: Oh this, me Ex gave it tome. Oh, it really needs to be dry-cleaned. I know I should just be grateful that I have a job in this economy but sometimes I think if I’d just be laid off it would be a good thing. I’m just so stressed out that’s why I keep on getting cold sores.
Male: Do you what you’d like to have Jennifer?
Jennifer: Don’t call me Jennifer, my Ex Carl used to call me that. I now go be Helena.
Male: Do you really think of Prozac in it?
Jennifer: Oh, I got that.
Tiffany Smith: Make your date feel like a star by giving them full eye contact and ask questions. It should not feel like an interview, just show that you’re interested and engaged in who they are. Chances are you Google them the night before but resist the urge to online investigate like a member of CSI. You want to come across as a potential suitor not a potential stalker.
Male: So, did you go on any fine vacations lately maybe down south?
Jennifer: Oh last month I went to Mexico with some friends.
Male: Really? Are you sure about that?
Jennifer: Of course I’m sure. Are those from my Facebook page?
Male: The real question is, who is this?
Jennifer: That’s my friend’s cousin, Billy.
Male: Listen Jennifer Nicollet Lynn Myers, it seems like you wracked up quite a credit debt lately. You’ve got a payment due tomorrow by the way.
Jennifer: Ring, ring, I think that’s the sound of my phone ringing.
Tiffany Smith: If your date is going great and the sparks are flying, the only thing you need to remember now is don’t over do it. Don’t drink too much, get overly emotional or use words like we unless of course you’re talking about video games. Give your budding relationship some room to grow.
Male: Thank you for all your help, okay. Bye-bye now. Oh great you’re back. I got to tell you. I was so nervous but you turn out to be incredible. Oh waiter, can I get another bottle? Do you want something?
Jennifer: Oh no. Actually I have to get up early in the morning.
Male: I don’t want this date to end. Come on dance with me. Let’s go, come on. Hey everybody, I am in love with this woman and the search is over. I am head over heels, start raving men about Sheryl.
Jennifer: Oh it’s Jennifer.
Male: Oh, that’s a problem. The wedding invitation say Sheryl, I got to make a call.

Tiffany Smith: The good news is once you master date one, the second one is so much easier with any luck soon enough you’ll be the one dibbing out dating advice which will hopefully include these quick tips; be positive, don’t complain about your ex or your job. Act interested but don’t give your date the third degree. Be calm and collected. Don’t drink too much or reveal intimate secrets. Have fresh breath, don’t forget your whisk.
Jennifer: Hi, how is your date going?
Female: We’re totally getting it off. And I’m getting ready for a goodnight kiss.
Jennifer: Me too.
