Ground bait is one of the first things that we do when we actually get to a venue and the reason we do this, it is because, it is based on bread crumbs and the moisture takes a little while to actually soak in to the actual ground bait. So we need to leave it to stand, just for a few minutes and while we are tackling up, is an idea with time. So, do loads of ground baits on the market, shops are actually full of them and it is probably best to actually check on your local lathe or on the local tackle shop to see what ground baits are the best that be in use at this particular time and then we will guide to what ground bait is to buy.
So to mix ground baits, very simple but there are few rules you do need to follow to ensure that is right every time. One of the first things to make sure, do you have the correct bowl, do you have to have a round bowl, that ensures that we get an even mix of moisture throughout the ground bait. A square bowl is not suitable because you got corners and the ground bait will get trapped in there and you will get lumpy ground bait.
So, we got our bowl, I got some water here that is ready to go in, but first, because I know that this brim in this area where I am fishing today, I am going to put a additive in there, it is just a sweet addiditive and I always add it to my water first and that is a very sweet additive, that is good for brim.
So, let us start by putting our draw ingredients. We are not going to make too much because we do not need a lot for this session. I am going to use half and half of two different types of ground bait and I like to use a dark colored ground bait for most of my fishing, it tends to match the color of the bottom, and fish should be happier to actually sit over the top of it, they do not get so scared.
So, when the ground ingredients, if you use them more than one then make sure you mix them thoroughly. Right, we are now ready to add our water. Now, the important thing about adding water is to add it very, very slowly and very carefully, ensuring that the mixing is thoroughly mixed and vigorous while you are doing it so, just a tiny drop of water, and give it thorough mix.
Do not try to rush this because if you rush it, you will over wet it and you will get problems and you will get lumpy ground bait. So a little bit more water, and just take your time, it is starting to get damp but did a good mix, I am getting the water mixed evenly throughout the whole ground bait. The smell of the additive is actually fantastic, it is a really sweet smell, beautiful, a little drop more water.
Now, starting to feel like it is getting somewhere handy because the way that we checked this is to squeeze a bowl of ground bait together and if it stays in the bowl, that is the correct consistency. We then just rub it through our hands and it should breakdown and fall back in to the ground bait bowl, similar to what it was when it comes to, so I am quite happy with this at the moment. I will just test again, yes, let us hold them to get a beautiful; now that is ready to use. It is beautiful lovely and it smells as nice as well. Now that is it. Consistency is right, we do not want it anywhere to deny, we want it to break up very quickly when it get in the water and actually, attract the fish into the area for feeding.
vhNow once we have got it ready, we cannot free off fringe. If you wish, I am going to put a few casters, just sprinkle a few into the ground bait and that is a few free off fringe for the fish. You can also add sweet corn or hemp is a very good additive or maggots.
