Welcome to this episode of Body Performance, I am Steve Turano. Who has not heard somebody who has lost weight say this “You know, I am eating five to six meals a day and I am never hungry, I can’t believe how much I’m eating”. Well, people sort of get caught up in this five and six meals a day thing. It is not quite accurate. They are not eating five and six meals a day. If they were, they will be gaining weight because five and six full meals is a lot of food. Typically, what they are eating is probably three meals and few snacks. But the most important thing above all these is not how many meals you eat throughout the day. It is the total number of calories that you plan to eat for the day.
Now, it doesn’t really matter whether you eat those in two meals, three meals, four meals, or five meals. It makes no difference. Pick a number of calories that you want to eat through the day and eat those calories. Now, if you started out throughout the day in four or five sittings or five or six sittings that is fine. Essentially, you are eating all day and it prevents you from getting hungry but what is most important is not the number of meals you eat throughout the day but the total number of calories that you take in throughout the day.
