We had a new roof put on in Nov. We have been having a lot of rain recently, and noticed that the gutters are no longer working, the rain runs between the fachia board and the gutter, it is terrible, no rain water goes in the gutters. I called the roofer out, and he said that the gutters are not close enough to the fachia board. Its kind of odd that we didn't have that problem until we had the new roof put on. My son cleaned the gutters, and behind them, where he found a lot of nails, and pieces of old roofing, but the water still does not run into the gutters, he even made sure that the gutter was tight against the fachia. What do you think the problem could be? Thanks!

A leak in the gutter, I am sure we all had it and you know we do the wrong thing. We go out, we pick up a cork can or galloon can of roof patch and we very simply put a brush into it and we spread it with spackling knife to try and stop the water. We overlook the fact that we have to bridge those joints—all those areas in there that is overlapped. We want to use the mesh. It is just like a screen mesh that lay’s inside and is layered. And as you layering, you brush on the roof coating, put in the mesh, another coat of roof coating and another layer of mesh until such time you build up a membrane. Now after curing, bring on the rain. Look at that, that leak has completely disappeared and the secret is really in the mesh folks so do not forget the mesh. It is just that easy.
