Welcome to the Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host, Derrick Schommer. Today we’re going to create the Flaming Pud Whacker. I got flames right here in some place. Flames. This was submitted by Apocalyptic Pimp under the name “Flaming C-o-c-k Smack”, but I don’t know if kids are kind of in the room where you’re watching our show and I kind of want to keep it feeling friendly party type atmosphere. So we’re going to call it the Flaming Pud Whacker. That’s cool.
It’s going to have some dark rum so we’re going back to the Goslings Black Bermuda rum. Eventually this will be in our dark rum tasting, I’m sure. We’re going to use a little banana liqueur, we’re using Arrow this week and we’ve got some Bacardi 151 because it can’t be flaming without something that’s flammable. Um, it’s probably not really for the taste, but if you don’t have a straw like I don’t, that’s going to be the first thing you’ll going to taste. A little peach schnapps and we’re going to fill it with.
So let’s see. We got one ounce of dark rum; we’ve got banana liqueur, one ounce; we’ve got a quarter ounce of the peach schnapps and one fourth or one quarter ounce of the flammable agent, the 151 Bacardi and we’re going to need 12 ounces of pineapple juice. 12 ounces of pineapple juice, really filth.
Now you’re going to, I’m going to put it in a high ball, not a high ball a Collins glass. My idea behind this is this better chance for it to flame because it is less surface area so you can really get that one quarter inch of 151 light and I hope. I haven’t done this drink, so if it doesn’t light, we’re just going to drink it anyway. I think we rolled an agreement there. And we’ll shake it all up, put the 151 floated at the end. So we’re going to throw that in right away.
That should do. And we’ll move him off to the side and we’ll bring in the peach schnapps and it’s only one quarter ounce, so we’ll do that first. And this recipe was taken, you know this is a submitted recipe and I believe most people who submit their recipes don’t invent them themselves, some do. I’m questioning the need for a quarter ounce of peach schnapps because when you 12 ounces of pineapple juice something tells me it’s going to get lost in the shuffle but we’ll see.
There’s a lot of intense flavors. The banana; it’s pretty intense, can be. Dark rum, especially this, little sweet, throw an ounce in there. It’s so good. And we’ll just pour in 12 ounces, I’m going to put enough so that I know it could be shaken and not color it too much like pineapple. So that looks like it can do. There’s still a lot of liquids in there. So we might make more than what’s needed. I don’t think it matters really. It’s all about the fun. Shake it out.
That’s not going to work. Here we go. So we’ve got the product poured into the glass and leave a little room to float that 151. That should be good. Now it seems I hear another drink in here. So it’s a surprise for later. And I’m going to use a clean measuring stick and let’s use a spoon here. This will work. And we’ll pour, try and pour it on top. I’m still not so sure if this is going to light but it doesn’t hurt to try. It is killing awful the foam.
How do you know if it lights? No, I don’t see any fire. No going on that one. I don’t think. No. It doesn’t really seem to light I think it’s going to be— if you sometimes get this. You know what, let’s try it again. You might kill off some of the senses. That’s okay. Whatever. Screw it. It doesn’t light.
This is your Flaming Pud Whacker without the flames and I we’ll going to go to that 151 now. I’m going to take a second sip because if you’ve ever lit a Zippo, you know that, that the smell that is what the initial taste with 151 in there. It’s going to be a dangerous night.
It’s a pretty strange drink. It’s very fruity. It’s like over the top fruits. You got your pineapples, you got this weird, there is I think a little peach-banana thing, the dark rum. I’m not really tasting it. I think the Goslings might even get lost in the drink. It does color it a little bit, but overall besides the 151 you’re not really getting any alcohols in here.
It might be a good drink for somebody who hasn’t have a lot cocktails with intense alcohol, so not necessarily intense flavors because this has all the flavors that you’re going to ever want. All like right up front in your mouth, and you could probably drink a bunch of this before you really have a problem. Pineapple juice isn’t bad for you so you’re good there.
So that would be the Flaming Pud Whacker. I’m your host Derrick Schommer, check us out on everydaydrinkers.tv also you could follow us on twitter.com/everydaydrinker. I love followers. Hey we’re teaching you how to drink.
