Melissa: I’m Melissa. I’m from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and I’m 21 years old. My question is, I like to go out dancing at least once a week in the clubs in Miami, but I have had a boyfriend for six months and she gets really, really jealous if I dance with other guys. So how do I ensure my boyfriend that it’s just dancing and nothing else? Robin Kerner, PHD: Melissa, I agree that it’s important to have your own interest in the relationship and you love to dance. It makes you feel great so go ahead and keep doing it. But be sure to include your boyfriend in the activity. Let him come with you, dance with him a little bit. Let him see that you’re not flirting with other man. But if these reassurances still leave him feeling jealous, you might need to rethink the relationship. Jealousy such as this can often be a sign that something more serious is going on psychologically.
