I am now going to plumb up using the float rod.
Now attaching the plumb led is exactly the same just the whip. Just pass a line for the eye in the top, pop-it in the cork and now we have it attached.
And the procedure is very similar except because we got a reel, so when we plumb up we actually got to cast the rig to wherever we want the plumb the depth. Now, I use an underarm swing and just test.
Now the float is disappeared straight beneath the surface which means that we are set too shallow. So, I need to bring it back in and adjust the depth to make the rig a bit deeper. We just need to slide and sharp up the line and we do it in small increments about four to six inches at a time.
Okay, let us repeat the process. Here we go. This time, I can just see the tip of the float under the surface but I want to add a little bit more to that because I want the float to be just popping up in the surface.
So, I am going to add about three inches and we will try again.
I am casting underarm here because it is not too far to me to cast that. But if I was in a big lake, I would be probably casting overhead. It can be done okay without type of plumb led.
There we are. It is absolutely perfect now. The float is leveled with the surface and the ledger way is on the bottom which means that we are fishing at that depth and that is our starting point.
But bear in mind, with a float rod, you can explore the whole of the lake in front of you. You can find shelves on the far bank. You can find hoes that maybe in front of you or onto the right of you. You can also find weed banks and maybe fish up against some or even avoid them if you get entangled with them.
So that is it for plumbing. We are now ready to start fishing.
