Mitch: Hi my name is Mitch, I'm 20 and I'm from Oklahoma City, what is the health risk or negative side effects of using fluoride? Daniel Wilson: Okay Mitch this is really a two part question, because there is fluorite's that's in the water, that you drink and become as part of your teeth as you are young and that's one issue, and if you had excessive fluoride you could have stain in over the teeth and so far this is not a big issue any more because municipalities have controlled fluoride very well, so there is very low risk. The other issues fluorides that you use through tooth paste or fluoride products that a dentist may prescribe to you, and as long as you are not swallowing large amount of this risk are nil and negligible and a very effective in terms of preventing decay.
