Ron: My name is Ron, I live I Bangor, Maine and I'd like to know if there are any foods you can eat that would help you prevent Hemorrhoids? Sheryl Pfeil: Oh! Good question, Ron. Actually the one thing we do advise patients who deal with Hemorrhoids, plenty of fiber, plenty of fluids, try to really keep that bowel regularity. Hemorrhoids are much worse when you get constipated, and you are straining and really working to have a bowel movement that can really exacerbate Hemorrhoids. Making a lot worse. There aren't any other foods per se that help Hemorrhoids or that worsen them, some people feel some anal discomfort when they eat, particularly spicy foods and so forth. But that's not really a contributor to Hemorrhoids. So we always encourage a good high fiber diet and plenty of fluids as well.
