Foot Massage Therapy Video 1

In this first part of the foot massage video, I want to show you some basic warm up techniques. First, apply well a lotion to the whole foot and the ankles. If the feet feel cold, wrap them vigorously to create some warm. If a person has a tendency to always have cold feet, I would have them wear socks during a full body massage or will use a warm water bottle and a towel to keep them warm.

If you are going to do a foot massage only, then the client could also soak the feet in a warm foot bath before starting. Then start with the some effleurage on the inside of the foot, go all the way to the hill and also push up a little bit towards the Achilles tendon and do the same thing on the top of the foot, use broad strokes with both hands. You can use the back of your hands or in this case, the back of the fingers. I do not really use my knuckles in this technique but if you want to have something smoother then you can use your palms like I show in here. Then warm up the ankles, try not to create too much pressure on the back of the ankles as there are some nerve tissue going along here.
