This is where -- Pat back up a little up. A couple of things, one, we need to make sure that we are preparing our hands and feet for the next play. It's not about catching the ball; it's about what I am going to do with it after I catch it. So every sport you play, whether its field hockey, soccer or basketball, you do not know the other sport. When I go to collective ball in soccer, I don't just stand here, I put my foot out and then turn around and try to kick it.
I adjust my positioning, I get ready, same is Field Hockey, you hear it all the time in Field Hockey, get your feet around, get your feet around. So your hips are in a good position to throw it. And then lastly basketball. If I am going to shoot the ball to Patty, I don't catch it here then turn and then shoot.
I keep my hips square; I kind of catch it and shoot all in one motion. So everybody understanding the analogy that I am trying to make for you. So I want to catch it on my back foot and we want to throw the ball hard. I don't want to shoot it out unnecessarily. Patty is like; I haven't done this with you yet. So I am going to catch it in rhythm. For those of you who dance it should be easy.
Catch it in rhythm, throw, and I am catching it behind my ear. Okay, I am not catching it in front of me. Oops, sorry Pat. I got one.
So my stick is back, nice handle. Now Patty throw it at me. What I don't want this to do. When we get throws at us, generally we do this, and we stop and we duck and we put our stick up.
All we have to do is move our feet. So I am still catching it here and if I am relaxed in moving my feet, I am always catching it in the same place.
Alright, everybody understand conceptually, what we are talking about. Here we go! Back up!
