Hi, this is another video from blogtactics.com. You can find it on blogtactics.com on the videos page along with all the other that we have videos. In this one, what we are actually going to do is we are going to look at Neil Shearing’s 10–Day Cash Secret WordPress Plug in for publishing Datafeeds to your blog. When I actually going to look at the Datafeed itself and what changes we need to make to it to format it correctly for use of the plug in. Now, I have already gone to share a sale, we are using a datafeed to form share sale. I have already downloaded that to my local hard disk. So this is it, follow here. Now what I am going to do is open that up and grab the text file out of it so I have actually got text file which is the Datafeed itself. I have got another file here which is datafeed.csv. This is an example one, which is kind of the master file that we can use for the correct format. Now you can find that file under your plug in’s folder under csv datafeed, dfengine, example df, you will find datafeed.csv.
So grab that because we will need that and what you can then do is open it up in excel. I am using excel, you could equally use another spreadsheet such as the free one from openoffice.org if you do not have excel. We have got that example file, what we now need to do is open up the csv or text file, the data file itself. So I am simply going to click on open and browse where I put it on the hard disk. Normally this will be on either O files or Microsoft Office Excel Files and what you actually need to do is take it down to text file csv format to tell it what type of file that you are opening. Then you can just click on that and choose open, so open it up or double click at least something. We then get these extra box up which is asking us what format the csv file is in. It is delimited so we will leave that as that and go to next and what we need to do is tell it that we are using another rather than tab as the delimiter.
The type of order that we are using is what is called the pipe specially the shift. Hold down the shift key and hit the back slash key which is to the left of the said key, and you will end up with the caret that looks like that. As I did that, you may have notice, some of the lines appearing here because its format to correct columns in. So that is what we need to do there. Make sure the tabs are in stick and make sure that stick are put in a pipe which is shift backslash. Then click on finish and it will open that up. Now, there is a lot of data in here and some of it we do not need, but the first thing I am going to do is insert a row at the top, it is like you are putting the titles at the different columns so in there what I have got and what is I am using. Now, plug bring this answer a little bit and we will see the first one is just a series of numbers but it looks like the product ID number which we are not interested in.
That looks like the product name, so it is also of different product that we have here so I am going to type in product name at the top of that, just like the one I got, there we got another column which is just a number, I have now idea what that is, probably merge number. So I am going to get rid of that column because we do not it need it. Then we have another column which is the merchant websites in sales, we do not need that either. Then we have another column, which is the one of the most important ones. This is the actual affiliate bill and it has at the moment, the default your user ID in there. Now when we actually grab the Datafeed from share a sale on the download page, there was this bit of text and said we need to replace your user ID so I am going to highlight that and change copy. I am going to highlight the whole of that column and then choose edit, replace and I am going to replace your user ID.
If you cannot do, right click there which I cannot for some reason, then use control-V to paste that in and we will go back and we will find the other bit which is important which is my user ID. So I am going to copy that and again I am going to highlight the next field then and the control-V to paste it in, finally click on replace org, it has replaced 546 items and I get click on close. If we not get one of those, we can see that we have your user ID, it may have my user ID. So anybody who clicks some of these links and goes through and buy something, I will actually get credited for it. So that is important bit. Now, I asked put up here so we know what that is and we have two more columns, which I suspect these are going to be the images. It is a jpeg file that I mentioned and this one is as well reports of diagram and that one, click. If you look through it, you should be able to get an idea of what each column is. Normally, the first one is a small vision of the graphic full of product as it says here, small or thumbnail.
