This is another video for blogtactics.com; you can find it on blogtactics on the videos page and with the others.
This is Part Two of the video showing you have to format a datafeed from shareasale.com for using with mail sharings 10-day cash secret with press plug in. The plug in allows you to take datafeeds and have those products from the datafeeds automatically posted to your blog on an hourly or daily basis whatever you like. And they have your affiliate link in them so it is a good way of getting some free content for your blog and making some money.
So, where we have got to? We had opened up the datefeed and we have got rid of the columns that we did not need and named the columns that we do need. Next, what I am going to do is copy this particular worksheet, let us just create a copy and I am going to create another copy as well. What I am going to do is rename this one as a master and rename this one as a working and I am going to rename the original one as the name of the blog or the topic that I am going to use. So I am going to actually call it, the name of the blog. I am going to make sure that I put that one first. There is a reason for that which we will go through again later on. Now, these other two, what am I actually going to do is clicking on this corner icon or field here, it allows me to highlight everything and I can then hit delete so that it is nice and empty. I am going to do the same with the working one.
Previously, I told you that we had an example datafeed called datafeed.csv which you can find in the plug-in csv datafeed df engine, example df folder which is where you unzip the plug-in, 10-day cash, you got in plug-in 2. So grab a copy of that, open it up and we are going to highlight the bits we need, because this gives us a correct format for the datafeed. So go back and I am going to pop that into my master worksheet. There we go. I will just get rid of the extra bits here.
Now what then I am going to do is take the top one, this bit of data and copy it and I am going to paste it into the working sheet. Now, what we need here is the category 9 because it is the category information and a category description. Now, that is optional but what I normally do is just repeat the category 9. So what we now need to do is go back to our main file and find a product of the category which is this one here. We need to scroll down and highlight the whole lot, there are 400 out here so here we go, this is one of the reasons I kept it to a small datafeed for this example video. You can imagine if I had several thousand in there, it would make the video a bit longer, but it is just as easy to do with several thousand. So I am going to get back to the working and I am going to paste that underneath as we have our list of categories.
Now, what we are actually interested in is getting rid of the duplicates. So what I am actually doing it manually by highlighting the ones that we do not want. I am taking out the columns which you can do, but it is going to take a while to do that. With 400 and not that many different categories, it probably would not take that long. But, if you have got several thousand or tens of thousand of items, you may find that you have actually got tens of if not hundreds of different categories and doing it manually. It could take a significant length of time.
So, what we do is we highlight the whole lot again and I am going to copy that and we go across to our website where there is a free De-Duplifier, sounds a bit funny. This website is AlexPoole.name/wp-content/de_duplifier.php. So pop across there and then what we need to do is paste a list of categories into there. Let us take and get rid off the extra line and button. Make sure you have got de-dupe text and filter out blank lines and then just click on Go. And then you should end up with your list of just individual categories. It is a lot short list.
Sometimes, you will still get some repeats in there. It tends to be, if there was originally a different versions, so if there is a capital here or something like that. So you still do need to check this, but I am going to highlight that and choose copy, get back to my worksheet and them I am going to delete what we have got in there and just paste a new list which is a lot shorter. If I sort this ascending A to Z, no I do not want to expand the selection. We can see that we do have a couple of duplicates still so I am just going to take those out. So we now have our list of categories, not many in this case. Many times, if you have a big datafeed, it will be a lot longer list and you will really need to use that De-Duplifier because it is a very quick while you are doing it. I am going to copy this and paste it in the description field as well so we are using the same for the name of the category and the description. I am now going to go back to my master file and I am going to grab the other bits of data that we need, copy that, go back to working and paste it on the next line down.
