Hey, I’m Steve Nelson and you’re watching Weekend Extra. The show where we show your shows except on today’s show, we’re not showing your shows because I am doing the show because I am taking a request from you guys. Specifically Wazzup12 who cannot sleep demanded that “We should do like a huge giant!!!!!!!!!!”
Now, there are two ways of doing this effect. And first, we are going to show you the prop and camera angle way of doing it. Now, for our props, what we’re looking for are items that you can get in a small size and large size. So, I went down to my local kitchen in my house and got a set of plates. A small one and a big one and plates are good because they usually come in sets of the exact same design, just a different size. And then, I got some Clementine and an orange because they are kind of the same fruit, at least they look like the same fruit and they’re different sizes.
And then, I went to the local art store, I got a set of paint brushes so we got a small one and a big one and a medium which I’m just going to throw away. The whole trick to this is to have your normal sized person hand off the normal sized object and then cut to a shot of the giant accepting the mini version of the object. Get it? You don’t get it do you?
Now, for your camera angles, when you are shooting your normal sized person, shooting them from above will make them seem a lot smaller in comparison t the giant. And, when you’re shooting the giant, if you shoot from below so the audience is looking up, the giant will look a lot larger.
And finding something stable for your giant to stand on to make them seem taller when doing your over the shoulder shots, well, be about as beneficial as marrying a dying hobo and then purchasing life insurance for said hobo and making yourself the benefactor.
Now these tips will give you a giant who probably won’t exceed about 15 feet in height. And, if you are the kind of person that gets off on like 50 foot tall people, then, we are going to have to do some green screening to get some really big giants.
So, it turns out that I lied a little bit. Using the trick of four perspective is shown here, you’ll be able to have complete control over the size of your giant making it anywhere from 20 feet to 500 feet tall because the closer to the camera the giant is and the further away the normal person is, the larger your giant will seem and all of these is done without a green screen.
Now, if you are going to be using a green screen, shoot your skyline scene on a perfect day when the sky is bright blue and solid blue with no other color. Now, you are going to chrome out the blue on the top layer of the skyline. And then underneath that, you are going to put your giant and you are going to chrome out the green screen obviously. And then, the bottom layer is the exact same shot from the top except without the blue sky coming out. This way, you have the blue sky behind the giant.

Male 1: Oh father of mysteries, why?
Genie: I’m a genie and I am here to grant you one wish.
Male 1: Hey, what kind of genie are you? Just give me three wishes.
Genie: Bitch, if you make more than one wish, I’m gonna have to kill you.
Male 1: Please, make me a giant.
Hey Cindy, remember when you dumped me for having a teeny dong? Now look at me now.
Female: Hey, come over here. My house is on fire, you got to help me.
Oh my God! He’s peeing on me but he’s putting out the fire. Keep peeing on me giant!
Male 2: I hereby declare this day to be “Giant Day”.
Male 1: I thought I would be so great to be a giant at first. The accolades, the fame.
Male 3: The humongous wiener.
Male 1: Obviously, it’s enormous. But I will never be able to pet a kitten again without breaking its tiny back or see the inside of the Sistine Chapel. I just wished I never would have wished to be a giant.
Genie: I have been in there for years.
Male 1: Genie, what are you doing here?
Genie: What did I tell you about making more than one wish? I’m going to have to kill you now.
[gun shot]
Male 1: You genie bastard.
