You know when most people talked about power tools, you probably think about things like these. Well, I will tell you what, in my opinion, one of the most powerful tools out there is actually this. What is it? It is a framing square. What does it allow you to do? Lots of things and most importantly, what I like about them, these are things that allow you to cut roof rafters. And if you are building a dog house, or even a big house, or even a room edition, or a garage roof; this is the tool you need. Well, how do they work? It is really simple.
A framing square is made up of two components. The tongue which is the narrow part that is usually about 16 inches long, and then what we called the body of the square which is the wider part of the square and it is usually 24 inches long. Now, all you got to know is the pitch of the roof that you decide, you are going to go with. Now, that might be 4 inches of rise and 12 inches, or it could be 12 inches of rise and 12 inches of run. Now, the bigger those numbers are, the steeper the roof is going to be. All you need to do is hold the square on the piece of wood that you are going to do and what happens magically, it transforms the angle of the cuts for where the peak of the roof is and where the rafter sits on the wall. It is really that simple.
Oh yeah, another quality installation. Look! It is really easy to cut some rafters. All you need is a little scrap lumber, a framing square, practice, and you will get the hang of it in no time.
