Hi, welcome to watchmojo.com. Today we’re going to talk about Chicago the Windy City, one of my favorite places to go in the States.
Now, first of all, Chicago for those of you who don’t realize is really beautiful. It’s on the edge of Lake Michigan and one thing I didn’t realize about Chicago until I started visiting it was that so much of it is surrounded by the water and basically anywhere you go in the city. You could see the water and it’s really gorgeous and there are these fantastic bike paths along the side of the city. And a lot of stuff is boat oriented.
So, actually if you’re a tourist in the city one of the first things that you should probably do is take a boat cruise. The place is called the Windy City and for good reason. If you go there in the winter there is a really cold chill. Although it’s not freezing, freezing cold there’s really a biting wind. But what’s interesting is that people living in Chicago definitely know this, and so the city makes a real effort in the summer to get everyone outdoors. They seem to use every opportunity that they have to have a parade to get out on the street, to get people remembering that Chicago is a great and fantastic place.
An interesting place to visit actually if you’re going to Chicago I would say you should check out www.metromix.com. It’s a great website and it basically just tells you if you're looking to book anything from restaurants to cruises, to hotels definitely you should check out Randolph Street or the warehouse district because there are great restaurants and just fantastic places for going out. Wildfire is in the heart of River North which is a really cool place to check out.
What makes Chicago special is that people are so friendly in the city. It’s also a really urban city. There’s a fantastic variety of amazing shops. I mean if you walk along Michigan Avenue, every shop you can ever want to go look into the world.
If you are a tourist in Chicago, here are a couple of things that you should definitely check out. First of all there is the Architecture Museum. It’s a must. This is not just because my uncle is an architect. You can also take the Chicago Architecture cruise through the Architectural Foundation. It’s so much fun! It’s basically this cruise that takes you to all the historic architectural landmarks in the city.
You should definitely also check out magnificent mall and obviously you should check out the Sears and Hancock Towers. Just because—you know like if you're in a place like that you want to check out the same way if you go to New York you check out the Empire State building. You got to check out the Sears and Hancock Towers when you’re in Chicago.
There are also phenomenal bike tours around the city. If you go there in the summer months you can go on your bicycle or they will give you a bicycle and people will take you on tours of the city in a bicycle. There’s Navy Pier where you can go and just like if you want to have a nice date out in Chicago like—girls love Ferris wheels what can I say.
You really have to try deep-dish pizza when you're in Chicago. They seem to just do it really phenomenally. If you are in Chicago in the summer you should definitely check out the taste of summer and you should also really check out the New Millennium Park. It’s just beautiful! And the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Modern Art are also fantastic staples.
So overall Chicago is really a fantastic place to visit, just as a result of the unbelievable nightlife, the unbelievable architecture, the unbelievable cultural events that you can check out. Go check out Chicago and have a great time!
