Nick: The Consumer Electronic Association held its annual CES preview in New York this week. Although consumer electronic show doesn’t start until January 7th, companies were out in force of the event showing their newest tech gadgets and products. The Audiovox mobile video with Playstation 2 let’s car passengers bring their games on the go.
Jeremy: They can take their, their PS2 games they have at home, play them on the roadtrips they have, they’ve done playing video games, they can actually watch a DVD on the PS2 system as well. So we kinda give options to them, not only just watching the DVD player.
Nick: When ask about a PS3 version of the unit, he said you’d never know. The unit as it is now cost 949 US dollars and will be out by the end of November. To charge gadgets on the go, Regen, showed off its renew solar panel.
Mark: And it is a 9 inch by 9 inch portable solar power collection and storage device, and basically you take the renew panel and you put it outside and you hang it on a window, in your house or apartment, and it gathers power and stores it in a lithium ion battery. And in about 8 hours, you can store enough power to charge two iphones or same iphone twice.
Nick: The renew solar panel can charge any device that accepts USB power, but can also be attach to a variety of devices including a desk lamp. The solar panel cost a hundred ninety nine dollars. On the display side of things, JVC showed of an edge lit, 32 inch LED TV that measures just a quarter of an inch deep, it will be out by the end of the month and price at 3500 dollars. The archer fish solar monitoring and security system let users place cameras in a location like the home, set up different view zones through the system software, transmit the images over the web, and then view them on a mobile device.
Craig: We’ve taken home land security technology, to use a lot of computing power and boil it down into a chip that sits inside a camera inside a 4 and a half inch phone. It’s wireless, network enable, and capable recording as well. The camera’s smart enough to be able to tell people from other types of objects and report the kinds of incidents or events that you’re interested in and have them sent to you wherever you are over the web.
