Hey everyone this is David from the ecologist.net and today I am going to be showing you an OS x application called Doc spaces. Now basically with Doc spaces allows you to do as it allows you to have different Docs and it also has a capability of to be able to have a different doc per space.
So right now I am actually using a doc called smaller, that is what I named it and it is in the smallest Doc besides my video doc. So I am just going to show you this real quick how to do this, so basically when you create a new Doc then you can customize a hurry blank and then you just hit use when you want it change docs and basically it is going to bring up all your application and minimizes it has to be because it has to quit the doc but I have my docs hidden so you would not exactly see it completely change. But as you notice is a different doc.
Now let us go ahead and use the separated one. Now you will notice that I have a doc that has a separation for different types of applications. So I am going to go ahead and show you guys how to actually make a doc and how to switch between them with ease as well as your spaces. So I am going to create a new doc and new doc file is going to be called test.
I am going to go ahead and re-minimize this, it is kind of a plain but that is okay and so as you can see right here I will take itunes out, take the stocks out and take ichat, address book, make it a little bit smaller and then let us go to a different doc and you will notice that this is the exact same.
Now let us go back to the test doc and you will notice of this is indeed the exact same. So let us go over and I will show you a little bit of the settings here. This one has a little bit of doc preferences and that you can change if you want bouncing icon you can lock the contents. You can have icon transparency of hidden applications and you can also automatically hide and show the doc.
Docs out can be 3D alignment center right or left position center or right or left. You can show active corners and or selects push a button. Now moving on to the next tab, you can change your menu bar icon which is right here and you also do have in your menu bar a way to change the docs as well as how to change them with a keystroke.
So while also move on to the next half which is spaces integration. So you have to load each doc individually and able spaces and system preferences and set workspaces to four (3:07) done all of that. So I am going to go ahead and set space number two to test, space number three to smaller and space number four separated.
Now let us go ahead and change spaces. It is going to automatically do that for the first one. I am going to unhide my doc and we are going to switch spaces there is my second doc test. Alright let us go ahead and go on to the third space and change my doc to the smaller doc which is my default doc.
Now we are going to go ahead and move on to the last space also known as the one with the separated doc and there you have it. So that is doc spaces, you can find that over and if you just google doc spaces. I recommend downloading from apple but it is a very great application and I do not think that I can live without it.
So if you have any questions feel free to live a comment or head over to the ecologist.net where you can find weekly prog test, videos, blog post. You name it we have got it.
