Ron Kiino: Behind me is the all new 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. So far we have track tested it, road tested it, we have compared it against the Ford Mustang GT and the Nissan 370Z we have even gone drifting with drift champion Rhys Millen. Prior to today we would only driven the 3.8 liter V6 Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
Today however we have the 2 liter Turbo 4 cylinder. Now this engine is very similar to the 2 liter use in the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. It makes 210 horse power in this application and 223 pound feet of torque. The boost range for this engine range is from 8.7 psi all the way up to the 17.5. Since it is the first time we have had this car we are going to put it through a usual battery of test. Let's go see how it does.
First we headed to the drag strip, the 2.0t accelerate from 0-60 in 6.8 seconds and three quarter mile in 15.2 seconds at 90.3 miles per hour. Next up we tested the 2.0t's brembo brakes, which halted the Coupe from 60 miles per hour in just 113 feet, finally we headed towards figure-8 course, with the 2.ot delivered a run of 26.8 seconds at 0.64g. Further on the skidpad it held on 40.91g.
Alright so we just finished testing the all new Hyundai Genesis Coupe 20 Turbo. Compared to the V6 model it's quite a bit slower that's because it makes almost 100 horse power less, but here are advantages to the four cylinder, the weighs quite a bit less than the V6, so that's less weight on the front wheels which means crisper turning, a little better steering response and over all handling is little bit better. So you could argue that's actually a little bit more fun to drive than the V6 model and then there is a surprise the 2 liter starts at just under $23000 and this track version which comes with brembo brakes, aluminum slit and 19 inch wheels, it take us for just over 27 almost three gram less than the V6 version.
More important Hyundai is going to offer R-spec version of this car which is decant on the track, which means no sun roof, no high end audio, that's a little bit lighter and gear towards autocrossers and tuners, speaking of tuners I am going to love this car, because they will be able to make a few mods to the engine and crank that 300-400 horse power easy.
