Get Moving, Get Losing

Male: About 9 million American children are overweight and that population is quite literally widening.

Female: The population of obese children has actually tripled in the past 30 years. Childhood obesity leads to diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels. As a parent, one of the best things you can do is encourage your children to get moving. With children, action speak louder than words, so do not waste time talking about exercise. Just get out and do it. If you exercise with your children, they will want to play too and you will get a workout in as well.

Rainy day? Try renting a simple exercise tape or DVD and doing it together. Kids, especially younger ones, love making up moves to do as a tape routine. Encourage this by trying their suggestions. These days, many gyms also offered kiddy classes, so your little ones can get fit while you sneak in your own workout. Whatever you and the kids decide to do, ensure that it is active, they will thank you in the long run.
