Get your windows ready for winter

Hey, I am Bruno Bernstein from Curbly.com. Today I am going to show you how to get your windows ready for winter. So this is our living room. We have got this really big, glass sliding windows that fits under the back yard. I love this in the summer but in the winter they are pain because they are let in a lot of cold air. So today I am going to show you how to unscrew them. So the tools you need for this job are pretty simple. You want to start with a box cutter. In my case, I would need a ladder because the windows that we are doing are kind of tall. And then you will want exterior window insulating film. Next, you want to tape up around the four sides of the windows. It says something about cleaning the surface first, but ignore that. Just make sure to press it down firmly. Alright so just finish getting the tape up. It took me about nearly 10 minutes to get one window down. I would figure probably about half an hour per window for all the tape and plastic so, we are going to be out here a long time. Next, we are going to climb up on our rickety wobbly ladder with a sharp knife and carefully try to remove the backing from this adhesive so that we could put the plastic up. Let us give it a try. Once the tape is ready, lay the plastic film out on the ground. You might want to ask somebody to give you a hand. Next you want to loosely place the plastic over the tape around the window. So, now I am just going through and applying the plastic tighter all the way around. This will probably take a few rounds before I get really tight but once I am done, it will be almost transparent. You won’t even know it is there. And that is it, I am done stretching. As you can see the window looks pretty good and here is the window with the plastic on it and here is the window without. So it is not bad. And now, I just need to cut off the excess plastic. Alright well, I have got one window done as you see. And that is probably all you guys can bare to watch so see you next time.
