Hi, my name is Luis Anthony Ast; I am the video Math tutor. Welcome to my website. Let us get started. To do that, it is pretty easy. You just need a few things. First of course is a pencil or a pen, it does not matter, just something to write with. So you are taking notes while you are watching these wonderful videos of me. Next thing you are going to need is a red pen. Now, this has not to be a single pen, you can have multicolor pen like green, blue or whatever, just something different. Why? Because, I know we write with black, you have black pen with notes on the board but for emphasis or for highlighting, I tend to use a red pen. So when I use the board pretty much, you should do the same thing on paper, it is easy. Next thing for making the graphs, or tables, it is good to have a little six since ruler and nothing fancy. Just you make better graphs, if you do not want to do this when you are doing the notes with me together, that is fine but it is good to have a class.
And finally if you are taking a drum with your class or class where you get to draw circles or arcs, just have it accomplish, nothing fancy, just to get the job done. Next thing you are going to need is of course, my notes. Not necessarily you will say math, basic math or algebra, calculus, whatever this video pertains to and what you need to do is read through these notes first, that is very important. Take a time to do the little lesson quizzes at the end of each section. Anything that has a little CD icon will be done on my videos. So a little reassurance there and the videos will also have additional examples, this is not just exactly what you see in your notes. The notes complement the videos; the videos complement the notes, as simple as that. When you put up the notes, makes sure you also have plenty of note paper and just get a binder like a separate binder for your math.
They key to doing well is organizational; we will talk about that in another video, that is on this website. So get your notes, put them in here, if you need to do graph, I have extra graphing paper on my website, you can actually print those up and for extra bonus, you can print up one of these things. It is a little cover page, just math notes and under the math tutor here. If you feel little embarrassed having these math notes, a few of your friends will laugh at you, you can also have my evil plan for world domination. And you can have that on your binder, in that way, no one will know really, math notes. Finally, to get things started, you will need a calculator. That is incredibly important and yes, you can pretty get by with something simple as a TI 30, 15 bucks, 10 to 15 dollars but again, you get what you pay for. I will not be using this particular calculator for these videos although you can get by with lot of problems with this. I will be using the TI84+ silver edition calculator. If you do not have a graphing calculator, yes, this is the one you should get, it is a good investment, it last for years, you will use for lots of math classes, it is incredibly fast, got tons of memory.
Texas Instruments provides plenty of supports on their websites; others are right there below where you can actually download programs, other applications. Again, there are dozens of calculators in the internets where you can find information on your net. This is the one I will use because I have to use something and it happens to be the best there is. So now, if you already have a graphing calculator, let us say it is TI83, 83+ or an 84 that is not a silver edition, you can still get by with that calculator, you do not have to get one of these. That is pretty much it, it is very simple, just get prompt the notes, sit back and enjoy the videos, make sure your writing material and the calculator.
