Welcome to this edition of body performance. I am Steve Terrano. Today I want to talk to you about getting through a plateau or a sinking point in your weight loss process. This can be very frustrating. I do not care if you are trying to lose those last five pounds or another 25 pounds. Let me give you a few suggestions.
Number one, cycle the number of calories you are taking in throughout the week. What do I mean by this? Let us say you are taking in 1500 calories a day and that seems to be working but now, it is slow and the weight loss process is not occurring. Bring it down to 1300 three times a week. That is an additional 600 you will down at the end of the week and this will help jumpstart the weight loss process again.
The other thing you can do is take a look at the cardio you are doing from a standpoint of intensity and from a consistency standpoint. Consistency is pretty obvious, am I doing it enough. If you are doing it two or three times during the week, you may have to do it four or five times during the week. The other thing is intensity, am I doing cardio that is hard enough, if you are walking, can you jog? If you are jogging, can you run? If I am doing it on a treadmill, can I do it outside? All these things will add up to increase your metabolism, consume more calories and help speed up the weight loss process.
Think about what you are eating, cycle your calories, increase your cardio’s intensity and increase your cardio’s consistency. I will see you next time. Love your body.
