Hi! This is Eric, thanks for stopping by. You know it helped a lot of ex-offenders prepare for successful interviews. The one thing I tried to stress to each and every one of them is that the interview is a business meeting. At this meeting, you are going to sow their skills and attitude to an employer. Now, because this is a business meeting, it is mandatory that you create a professional impression. Your professional impression will be a lasting one. Why? Because you will never get a second chance to make a first impression.
It is absolutely necessary that you wear a shirt and tie to an interview, no question. What a tie says to an employer is I am serious about what I am doing right now. If you wanted to be taken seriously and professionally, you need to wear a dress, shirt and a tie. Unfortunately, I meet a lot of people who cannot tie a tie, so what we are going to do today is learn how to tie a tie. There are many ways to tie a tie; the one I am going to use is called a double Windsor. I used the double Windsor, because it makes a neat, symmetrical, even knot every time. So, what we are going to do, if you notice I start it by making a long end and a short end. What I am going to do first, I am going to cross my long end over the short end. Stay on the same side; I am going to go up to the back, so hold it on that same side.
Next thing I am going to do is I am going to do under my short end and up to the front. Under my short end and up to the front, now what that does here makes a little neat little V-shape with the tongue hanging out, so we are going to call this a tongue. What we are going to do now is we are going to go under and cross over our tongue, in the front. We are going to cross over our tongue bring it up through the back. Now, we made a little loop here and we going to tuck our long end through this loop. We are going to hold on to our little tongue and we are going to pull it snug. Pull it snug and pinch it at the bottom, when you pinch it at the bottom makes it really neat, okay. Holding our tongue we are going to slide it up to the neck. You see that makes a nice really neat professional looking knot every time.
We are going to do this again. First you are going to untie the knot. We are going to start absolutely from the beginning. We have a long end and the short end, first we going to cross the long end over the short end. Staying on the same side we are going to go up the back to the front and staying on the same side. Next time we are going to do, we are going to under our short end and come up through the front, okay. We are not done with that, I made a little V-shape where the tongue is hanging through, okay. We are going to hanging on to our tongue; we are going to go under and cross our short end in the front. We are just going to cross over the short end just like that, okay. We are going to come up through the back, we made a little loop in front, when we cross, so we are going to tuck this end through that little loop that we just made.
So, we are going to tuck it through, we are going to hold on to our tongue and we are going to pull it snug. And, we are going to pinch it to make a look neat and we are going to slide it up to the neck. Makes a neat, every single time it looks professional, it looks sharp. Now, you are ready to create that professional impression. Remember tie, dress shirt absolutely mandatory for you to look great and create that professional impression. Now go get that job.
