Gibson Cocktail Drink Recipe
This drink is called a Gibson and a Gibson is a form of a Martini. It is one of the older styles of Martinis. And it’s just like a Martini the only thing is we’re going to change the garnish, but I’ll make it for you anyway.
So, we’re going to make this drink on the rocks. We’re going to fill up our rock glass with ice then we’re going to use just a couple of drops of dry Vermouth. Dry Vermouth is a white infused white wine and Gibson could either be gin or vodka just depending on what the customer preference is.
If a customer came in and somebody ordered the Gibson, I always ask him, “Do you prefer that with gin or vodka?” So, we’re going to assume that this person might say, “Gin Gibson”. So we’re going to use a real high quality gin. We’re going to use a Beefeater which is a very nice gin and it calls for two ounces of our gin.
So, we’re going to fill that up, put our two ounces of gin in there, and the thing that differentiates a Gibson from a Martini is this small pearled onion. It looks just like this, and we just put it right in there.
We put a couple of sip sticks in there, so the customer can stir the drink and we are all set. Now, don’t forget if we were making a Martini all we would do is change the garnish from pearled onions to olive just like that, that’s all there is to it, so there you are your Gibson.
